Low frame rates

 My frame rates bounce around any where from 3 to 25. On a flight with any duration everything will freeze for 5 maybe 10 seconds.My FSX sliders will be in a following post.

You seem to have a lot of things MAXED for a 3.0 GHZ CPU.  How about some of the other settings like aircraft labels, light bloom and lens flare.  These are some simple things that you can un-check and maybe help reduce your FPS drops.

 It's a desktop with a 27" monitor. The things that I didn't mention like light bloom and lens flare are unchecked. Also everything FSX is on my ( C ) Drive , that has 524 GB free of 910 GB.

Got it!  You could try overclocking your CPU as FSX is CPU dependant.  Mine is set at 4.9 GHz (stock 3.33) and FSX is incredibly smooth.  

 

Have you considered purchasing a video card?  I found that I got improved perf when I upgraded to a GTX 780.

I'll look into a video card. I tried some of the things you said and there's a noticable difference. I was in single digits to about twenty. Now I'm looking at twenty to twenty-eight. I have never overclocked, but I have heard a lot about it. Is it relativly easy to do?

You have to go in via the BIOS to overclock your CPU, I feel comfortable doing it on my PC, I have custom memory timings for my RAM as well. 

 

If you know of a trusted PC shop that you can take your PC to have OC'd then that is your best bet.  You might have to update your BIOS when installing a new video card anyway so you can have it all done at the same time.

 

Then you would finish that up by installing and configuring nVidia Inspector and deleting your FSX.CFG so a new one is built and then you would enter your edits.

Then you shouldn't for now. Learn about it first.

 

Your main problem is your CPU speed, but we can work with that. You have to give up some quality. Look at some of the suggestions above, however, please back up your FSX.cfg first by renaming the file name to FSX.cfg.orig leave one in the directory it resides in then a second copy somewhere else..

The "UsePools=0" is used if you have a high end GPU like a 700 series nVidia card otherwise it is best to use the pools setting=1 with a rejectthreshold setting.

Unfortunately that guide is very basic he needs the AVSIM Hardware Software Guide, which is blocked. You are right about the UsePools=1 for low end.
