meters or feet ?

Hello,

does anybody know if it is possible to change the metric units used in aircraft panels (such as in Vertical Speed for Autopilot in FSX?

From meters to feet, for example?

I really doubt it is, at least in the default aircraft - the only plane with that option (in my hangar at least) is the PMDG MD-11. But you can use the following as a quite quick and good approximation: 1m=3ft (real conversion would be 1ft=0.3048m and 1m=3.2808ft), which is what I do when I need to do some rough calculations at university.

You change the value in the main FSX setup menu. There is a section where you choose millibars/inches and metres/feet or a hybrid mix. The normal for Australian airspace is millibars/feet I believe.

Whilst this is true, you want to be cautious about doing so if you're using some add-ons. Some rather wonky things have taken place before simply because the units were changed from feet to meters. Of course, if it's just default, it probably isn't an issue. I think it was mostly payware that ran into issues.

The only time I have seen this are in Russian aircraft (eg the PT Tu-154M and related projects). I've never seen it done in a Boeing, Airbus, Emby etc. Several add-ons allow to display metric altitude, but that's it; no MPS on the VSI or even KPH speed indication.
