need help i want one or the other i have been watching prepar3d for sometime now and lots of people say its fsx with higher frames but i also am thinking of getting tacpack or FSpassengers for my fsx my computer specs are intel core 7 (3.5 ghz), graphics Nvidia geforce 765m with 2 gb GDDR5, ram 16GB,  :smile:

With the release of V2.2, it blew me away. It was stunning. Anyway, If you're thinking fspassengers, my recommendation is FSCaptain. It's P3D and FSX compatible and brings a whole new slew of realism to simming. FSPassengers, to my knowledge, has been dead in the water development wise for awhile now and is not P3D compatible.  Tacpac is cool, I have it too, currently EULA prohibits it in P3D. 

 

Your computer can run it. It's up to you. I have both. PMDG, as of right now still is not compatible, but is in the works.

It is a lot more than that, my friend.  I concur with David above that it blew me away as well.  It is quite an experience.

I literally almost got it for the IRIS ADF, which (hopefully) they'll update on their FSX version as well.  Much more interesting than the one they released in 2011.

 

My main fun in P3D at this point is blasting around the scenery at Mach 1.2 at 1200 ft. altitude.   It's a nice graphics fest!

Go to the LM website and determine for yourself the right one for you.  The difference between the Academic and Pro versions is the Academic version has a negligible watermark on the top right of your screen.  Other than that, no differences.  It is a great platform.  I, as many others, have the Academic version.

buy P3D 2.2  it's amazing! 

The Academic Version will be fine.  I just jumped in after quitting 1.4 over 6 months ago.  I'm liking what I'm seeing so far in 2.2 quite a bit.  Performance for me is good, certainly no worse than before, and the immersion with the shadows, fog, etc are great.  I never realized what I was missing before!

I want to go P3D too, but I fly the PMDG 737 only (well, 90% of the time)...so until then, I will wait and read all the posts ppl are making about P3D 2.2

the IFLY 737NG has been made 100% P3D 2.2 compatible with it's own installer(no migration tool needed) and is amazing in P3Dv2 with DX11 graphics.

Had a look at some videos on Youtube about the iFly...it really seems to look and "feel" different than the PMDG. Have you had both versions and compared them?

I have a feeling that many PMDG users will migrate to P3D once the PMDG product(s) of their choice are made available in P3D.  The P3D platform is solid now, has more features than FSX, performs noticeably better, and will be receiving new features like SLI in the future.  I am kind of on the opposite side of the fence as I will be getting a PMDG product as soon as it is available on P3D as I find it more difficult to fly in due to being spoiled by the performance and visuals in P3D.
