Final approach?

So i have done a flight today in fsx but the landing wasn't really "on the runway", what i mean is that the landing was horrible,because the atc didn't line me up corrrectly or i didn't. It's between it(him/she) and me.

 

Anyway, I wanted to know if there's any way i could go directly to the final approach by using a plugin or something already integrated in the sim instead of doing the whole flight, like X-Plane has the option to go directly to final approach(3nm and 10nm) and practice your landings.

 

I chose FSX because i have the PMDG 777.( Changed my mind from the FF 777)

 

Any help would be appreciated.

In fact a few days ago there was an article on an add-on here with Avsim-------look back in the main Avsim homepage-----that one could position an aircraft wherever they wanted to practice just what you are attempting to do.

You can always press the semi-colon key about 15 miles out and save the last portion of your flight for landing practice.  Fly it over and over again till you get it right.  If you are depending on ATC to get you aligned perfectly with your runway during a visual approach, that ain't gonna happen.  Time to start practicing ILS approaches.

THANK YOU ALL for the extremely quick answers, and i'm checking that link right now

 

And I thought that saving the flight with the semi-colon key would save only the settings(gate, flight plan, etc.), not the actual position. 

 

I've used the default ATC for a while now, trying to get it right, thought i was the one doing the wrong operation.

 

I'm gonna do what you all said and report back as soon as i can.

Ok, I've downloaded the FSIA program but when i click connect, it loads, but I still remain on my desktop and i can't switch back to fsx. I do alt+tab i select it in the task bar, nothing. Any suggestions?

SOLVED:Went into windowed mode(Alt+Enter) and everything's fine now...

Instead of an addon I start a flight with the plane on the runway and engines running. Then open the map and drag the plane icon to a few miles from the runway. You can set speed, altitude and heading in the boxes on the left side of the map. Then close the map and fly the approach. You can also save the flight after closing the map, then just keep hitting Ctrl-; to repeat the approach.

 

You can use fsxdb.com for an airport search function.

Using the semi-colon key saves pretty much everything up to the point you pushed it.  I use it all of the time on long flights where I don't want to continue flying.  I then pick up from where I left off the next day.

Does it save the replay? If i do a good landing i want to remember it.... and put it as a screensaver

No, if you load a saved flight the sim will have no knowledge of what happened before you pressed the ";" key, except for ATC transmissions.

 

If you want to see what all is saved in a flight you can open the .flt file with Notepad.

FSX has a built in video recorder. I don't know if it will record a replay.

 

The built in recorder is not great. Google Fraps.
