Aeroprakt A-22 Foxbat ...

Recommended Posts

I've started my private pilot license process (again) thru Pacific States Aviation out here at KCCR (I had done this a while ago, think many many many years ago, but stopped as other commitments came up and no time for it).

Basic private pilots license course $600 for 6 week ground school course, then 60-70 hrs flight school ($120/hr for 172R + $50/hr for instructor) so figure about $10K-$12K investment ... assuming all goes well, my plan is to purchase an A22 ("Foxbat") as it looks simple enough for me to maintain and fly on a regular basis with my ultimate goal to be come an instructor and essentially be able to fly for free (assuming demand of course) while keeping my hours up.

As you can see it's a long range plan I hope to complete this year or next year (need to get my race car sold first).

I was looking at the A22 Foxbat and wanted to get opinions ... they range from $38K on up to $97K ... my training is on the 172R so that's actually a step up over the A22.

Thoughts from those with experience and/or instructors?

Cheers, Rob.
