I have a few questions about "upcoming" PMDG items...

Recommended Posts

Howdy! My name is James and have been a long time follower of PMDG but I have a few questions about products that have seem to fallen off the radar. I just wanted to know if they will be done or if it will be that they will never be done...

Anyways...

Dash-8? This pretty much not going to be a reality?

737-700ER/900ER? I know this was supposed to be released after the -600/-700 models but haven't heard about them since I would love to see these come to reality but again, I am not you guys and don't know what is best for your company.

DC-6.... Yea, I am big radial head. This going to be a reality or wont be coming out at all?

777-200's and -300's with the different engine options. I know this is a little more current but I was wondering if you will do these models or not. I understand if you don't because it is easier to stick with the LR since it is only 1 engine option to deal with.

I just want straight answers if possible. I can understand if you don't do these because know more than I will ever know. I just would like to know if these will ever happen. That's all. I wish you all a blessed day and thank you for producing these great products for us to use in our sim!

I'm beginning to have very large doubts about this.

Haven't heard anything about it lately, but I imagine they'll say something in tandem with rolling out SP2.

The owner being a radial fan, himself, I'm pretty sure this one will be out at some point.  Keep in mind, though, that this was meant as a side project for team members to work on when in between other projects.

Not sure.  I'm sure they'll say more when SP1 and the -300ER come out.

With Majestic doing the 100/300 after the other versions of the 400 what would be the point in PMDG doing it.

I believe the 200LR/F and the 300ER only have the GE90. Others engines are only used on the other 777 types, so unless they would do a -200ER expansion the chance to see other engines in the current/upcoming 777 is highly unlikely.

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

PMDG team,

Are there any updates you can provide on the DC-6, other than "it will be done when it is done"? Is there any way to elevate it from a pet project and get it to customers sooner?

I suppose a sizeable donation could speed things up.

As it is, the DC-6, sadly, has nowhere near the commercial potential of 777, 747 etc. which are some of the most iconic jets ever built. Business-wise it would not be a wise decision to push the project forward.

Oh and btw. props to the OP for a great example of how it should be done. The post shows that he had done research, he is up to date with what we know, and he asks specific questions, while acknowledgeing his understanding of possible answers. And name is signed.

I doubt it.  As mentioned, it's a project that's meant to be addressed in developer down time.  It's simply not in enough demand to truly move resources to it as a full-time project.

Was hoping for updates on the BBJ series and ER's but hey just fly the 737 with 10pax that should simulate a BBJ.[emoji12]

Thanks guys. Sorry for the very poor English/Grammar/etc. I just want to know and sometimes a straight No is better than a maybe.

What do you guys mean with being a "radial fan"? Radial as in VOR radials? As in "no magenta lines"?

If that's the case, yeah, I too wish a top-level "pure-IFR" airliner, I'd love something like a DC-8, DC-9 or DC-10, 707 or 727...

That or a DC-3. But why a DC-6? Isn't the DC-3 a more "iconic" airliner? If it's because of the tricycle landing gear, then why not a Super Constellation instead of a DC-6?

"Radial" as in "radial" (piston) engines[emoji3]

The intro manual provides more explanation on the 777 line up from PMDG... "Over the next few months we intend to expand your 777 fleet by adding the 777-300ER, the 777-200ER and possibly a few others". Which I guess will be the 777-200A if there is enough community interest.

Dash8 - Majestic have this in the bag I think

- 737ER To be honest, PMDG said they want to focus on aircraft that you can see at your local international airport. I don't see many 737-700/900er in service (especcially in Europe) so I don't think it would be a fruitful endeavour.

DC6 - From the last update it looked pretty far ahead, so I wouldn't imagine it being cancelled completely.

The -900ER is very popular in the US. Alaska, United and Delta are all using them in large numbers. There would be a lot of intrest in them. PMDG has not said anything in a long time about the ER models. I hate the way they dribble out info every once in a while and it is usually just about one product. Yet Orbx who has far more products under development releases frequent updates and more importantly, product road maps. John understands (even though he is very busy, yet still makes time) in keeping the most important people, the ones giving him money, informed about their products.
