Can anyone comment on whether these suggested airports all work ok with FTX Global, please. I tried some Vidan (Danish) scenery recently but it was all lava red when installed. It would be good to have some quality airports in non-ORBX regions like continental Europe, Central and South America, Pacific islands etc.

The reason the Vidan design airport you installed -recently I assume- was lava red was because the designer (John) had missed to put in April/May photo-textures so it would just display a big red square instead. I reported this bug a few days ago and John fixed it within the hour(!). Awesome support and that was for one of his freeware airfields mind you, I'm pretty sure it was the only faulty one. Vidan design make great little Danish airports with personality and charm and they're affordable too, I have Bornholm X which is an island scenery, love it!

As for regard to the OP, I'd just like to see my own home airport (EFVA Vasa) be modelled in a somewhat decent fashion. There's been a few hobby projects but they've been left barely half-finished. Yes, it's small and insignificant but it is MY home airport and I'd just love to take my Blue1, Finnair or SAS flights from there to ESSA, EKCH, EVRA etc. and back. I get it, no sales, everybody just wants another version of the major US and/or European airports. Oh well, one can always dream....mmmmm *NOT-so Mega Airport Vasa X now available for purchase!*

Thanks Penz and Addman for your comments. I wasn't meaning to be negative about Vidan, just wanted to know if some airports were problematic with FTX Global. Sounds like I was just unlucky with Grenaa - which is welcome news because I was looking forward to getting more Danish airports. Vidan's along with the recent pack of free FTX Belgium airfields and one or two in the north of Germany will make a nice (and relatively cheap) network for GA flights.

A must-have airport is hard to define. Is it a must-have since I like/need the destination and any quality airport will fit?

Or is it just a design/performance masterpiece regardless of the location so I use it mainly for its beauty and enjoyment?

Anyway taking into consideration the addons I own (and I do own many) and find to be top design masterpieces, I would say (in no particular order):

In Europe where I do 90% of my flying:

- LHS Budapest (LHBP)

- Drzewiecki Design Krakow (EPKK)

- FlyTampa Vienna (LOWW)

- Aerosoft (Gianni) Approaching Innsbruck (LOWI)

- Aerosoft (A-Flight) Helsinki (EFHK)

- 29Palms Skiathos (LGSK)

- Taxi2Gate Istanbul (LTBA)

Outside of Europe (here I invest only in the pearls of the pearls):

- FlyTampa Dubai (OMDB)

- FSDG Sharm El Sheikh (HESH)

- Flightbeam Washington (KIAD) / Phoenix (KPHX) / San Francisco (KSFO)

There are some more great airports I own and frequently fly to, e.g. from FSDT (LSZH, KLAX, KLAS, KORD or Hawaii), Drzewiecki (the PA series) or Aerosoft (many German airports). They are also very well done but maybe a little bit less of a class compared to the above.

For me? Seeings as I live and fly out of Bozeman, MT, then it'd have to be Orbx KBZN! Busiest airport in Montana, with the main runway long enough to accommodate about any type of aircraft.
