April 23, 201412 yr Hi, I'm trying to do ILS landings in the standard Boeing 737, but I can't figure out how to make the planes autopilot descent with the glideslope of the ILS. I have my appoach button on and the plane does get centered correctly, but I still have to manage my altitude myself. Help would be appreciated
April 23, 201412 yr Could it be that you're above the G/S when you activate the APP button? Also, make sure that you are more or less centered on the LOC and that ALT Hold disengages when you intercept the G/S signal. Florian
April 23, 201412 yr As Flog said make sure you are below the GlideSlope.. try 1800 or 2000 feet... Make sure you change from GPS to NAV. I assume you have your course and the radio set properly?
April 23, 201412 yr Administrators I think everyone's pointing you in the right direction. There is a "Below Glideslope" that lights up when you are at the correct altitude. Keep an eye out for that. Keep an eye on the diamond in the MFD to watch it drop below the center line and that's when your altitude hold light should go out and your aircraft will start to descend. Also be sure to have your aircraft setup ready for landing, proper flaps, speed, and wheels down. Good practice for ILS and glideslope landing is doing the Monsoon Approach Mission. You are flying a default 747 completely blind into Singapore airport.
