Unsure if I meet the requirements

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow simmers.

I am planning to buy the PMDG 777 but I have a question regarding whether my system meets the minimum requirements for it. I can run the NGX quite well as I have set all my sliders to medium and traffic is set to 15%. I also use only the default scenery and airports and no weather addons.

My laptop specs are:

Windows 7 32 bit

AMD M340 Dual Core 2.2 GHz

4GB RAM

1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4300

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid that with the specs of your laptop, trying to run the 777 with any kind of decent frame rates would be very difficult, and with the 32-bit version of Windows 7, OOMs would be a definite possibility as well.

I understand thanks Jim, I think the best thing for me to do is to wait until I get a new laptop with better hardware and not end up wasting $89 on an addon that won't work. I was just curious as I have heard people report they get better performance with the 777 than the NGX.

While it's true that pound-for-pound, a well-configured desktop sim platform will surpass the performance of a laptop almost every time, there are some laptops that do quite well with the 777. Luke Pabari (EGLL77W), is a PMDG beta tester who has excellent results running it on a laptop, though I believe he uses a rather high-end laptop specifically designed for gaming.

If you can run the 737, you should be able to run 777 satisfactorily.

I have recently bought a new laptop but I'm still unsure if it will run the 777. Check my profile for my new computer specs. Once again any advice is greatly appreciated.

Check my profile for my new computer specs.

Check mine to compare it against that, but I think you should be fine.  Again, if you can run the NGX, you can run the 777.
