06MAY14 - PMDG 777 SP1/300ER Updates

Recommended Posts

Those that say they won't buy the 300ER, oh they WILL be buying it, it's a different bird compared to the LR and worth getting.

  You have to say that. If you said anything different you wouldn't last long as a member of the Dev team.

I won't buy - don't fly the LR enough to justify another similar aircraft.

That is the whole reason you SHOULD get it. The only reason I dont fly it much is because I fly actual flights and try hard to use the right planes, so this doesnt come out of the hangar much. (Although I did do a EK DXB-BOS with this plane the other day). However, the 300ER is everywhere. Cathay, ANA, American, BAW and ESPECIALLY Emirates. You could fly this plane everyday for a year and never have to fly the same route twice. I think you would use this so much more than the LR or F variants. :)

No they won't.

There were users who said they would try building one after SDK is out though.

Great News!

Looking forward to go the B77W from Thai Airways from Oslo to Bangkok!

One thing I haven`t totally understand is if the 300ER is a free update for us who have the B772LR already?

Or will this come with a additional charge for all of us?

I haven`t found that out, so I assume the 300ER is included in SP1 for B772LR as a free upgrade? But people buying the B772LR after SP1 is released have to pay for the update?

Correct me if wrong :)

Best Regards

Kim

The SP will be free for current owners of the 200LR. The 300ER (which will require the SP) will not be free. No idea what the price will be, but I assume that for current owners of the 200LR, adding the 300ER will be considerably less expensive than the initial release.

I would assume that it would be the same price as the extension for the 737NGX

They're not building full 2D panels anymore. NGX was the last product to have that.

There are a few items left that we are still tuning, and these have to do with certain control logic inside the FBW system during speed transitions, etc.  This particular area of the airplane is not well documented, I would suspect because it is highly proprietary- and as such we have had to corroborate experimentation in the full sim and FTD with feedback from the flight crew on our tech team, some Flight Test folks, and a couple of engineers who have a rather extraordinary amount of knowledge on the topic.

I wish I could tell you that it was easy to sort out the differences of opinion on the topic- but it isn't... Needless to say it is fairly obvious that we gave too much sway to the engineering descriptions of behavior in the release build- and it has been a b**tch (Sorry, Tom!) working backward toward where we are now.
It is working nicely- but still has some rough edges to sand down- and it is taking time...

This kind of candor and transparency, along with full acknowledgement of the FBW issue from the PMDG side is all we ever asked for from the very beginning (September 2013).     Thank you.

Try to get in touch with the other guys who plan to do that. A preliminary permission was already given in forum, but you need to wait for SDK anyway
