Hi all,

I purchased the Wilco Airbus Deluxe Evolution Series 1 Upgrade last night. When installing I can run the .exe, enter the serial number but then it says 'Cannot install this program, please select your correct Flight Simulator directory'

 

I have selected the correct directory C:\Program files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9 but I keep getting this message.

 

I ran the registry repair tool from flight 1 in case it was a registry error but still the problem occurs.

 

I am running the upgrade as administrator as requested in the Wilco Support notes.

 

Anyone come across this issue before and come up with a fix ??

 

I have installed many addons successfully before and never came across an issue like this.

Do you have the base pack, Airbus Series Deluxe Edition Vol 1 installed?

I have Airbus Series 1 installed from 2011. Is there a different upgrade for that?? How would I know which version I have?

Two different upgrades, one for deluxe and one for regular. (That's for the series 1; there are even two different upgrades for the series 2!)

I wouldn't bother with this so called upgrade.  The Evolution package was not created by the original developers but rather a third party akin to one of us making edits and then selling it.  I was on the original team and you'd be better off sticking with what you have.  The so called updates doesn't fully integrate into the original package meaning there are 2D panel upgrades that aren't present or fully realized in the VC.

Try the product swap thingy, John, and see whether you like it.

 

While the wx radar is kind of a joke, the FMGS actually improves and you also get a HUD (sort of, anyway).

 

I fully concur with Dillon as far as the orginal developer's frustration is concerned, but your money has gone anyway, now check what you can get for it ....

I've warned people more times than I can count on these forums about this mis-leading package.  Wilco should be ashamed of themselves selling it as if it is an official update.

It's been out for so long that it's not worth it at this point.  There wasn't a Wall of Shame when this crap was released and Vic at Feelthere didn't protest it so it went under the radar.  Today when people look at the Feelthere Airbus package they immediately go for the 'Evolution' offering and then start complaining.   The freeware guy behind this got seriously lucky as he was never challenged.  I honestly don't know how this one slipped by.  Wilco is truly at fault here in how they packaged it but if Feelthere won't stand up and contest it and Wilco sells it there's no case.   The clueless customer is the only one who loses in the end.  What's funny is just like FSX you have people who've bought the hack job package (never seeing the original work) now standing up defending it.  There's no way they've gotten all the 2D features to work in the VC but just the same with enough time a rock can turn into a piece of gold I guess.  I've seen it too many times and it's amazing to watch just like people's short memories...

Update : 

Well, fair dues to Wilco Publishing.. The swapped the download file to the regular one free of charge. Installed fine and is working great. The WX Radar can only be switched on in the 2d cockpit or pedestal pop up but overall works fairly well. Just have to reinstall my repaints, updated VC textures and CFM Sound files and off I go.
