Why is it that when I set my Nvidia Inspector settings to MS FSX, on the next re-boot it reverts back to Global whatever, despite clicking the 'Apply Changes' button? I thought once set and changes applied, it stayed put.

Hi Rick, the only time it reverts back to default values is when the drivers gets updated and you have to re establish your ingame settings. Other wise not to sure what you mean, if you are saying when you use nvidia inspector and you click on the drop down menu and search for msfsx and enter values and the click 'apply' next time you open it up the inputs you entered for msfsx are reverted back to default or are you saying that the menue starts at the top ie 'global' , if so, so does mine,

Bob

Hi Rick,

NI does that on a restart of the app.  Scroll to the FSX profile and you will see the fsx.exe listed under the title in the green bar.  Once FSX starts the NI profile is applied.

Try clicking the 'Apply Changes' button twice.

Hi Gentlemen

  • Downloaded and installed the latest version, 1.9.7.2.
  • I scroll down to the MS Flight Simulator X, select that, it then shows up at the top as displayed by Robert's reply
  • I then click one, twice and it looks like it wants clicking 'Apply Changes' forever as I do not see any confirmation that it has been applied.
  • I exit NI, I fire up FSX, I go back to check if that FSX profile has remained the same
  • and lo and behold, back to Global_Driver_Profile(base setting)

Thanks for your settings, Robert, because it seems some of my settings were changed when I reverted the driver

Just trying to clarify Rick so hope this is not a dumb question....

Are you saying the actual values in your fsx profile have reverted back to global setting values

or that the Global_Driver_Profile(base setting) is displayed in the Profiles box when you re-open NI?

Hi gboz

Thanks for your input.

No the values in the fsx profile remain as per what's input, but when I re-open NI, it reverts back to that Global_Driver_Profile. It does not remain at the FSX profile I applied the changes for.

And now, after a long overnight flight from KORD-EGLL, I discover after making the FSX profile changes copying Robert's profile, in VC view, everything looked hunky-dory. The minute I switched to outside views I got all kinds of weird scenes.No aircraft, just clouds that looked elongated, etc. What a waste of time.At that point I gave up. I now realise why simmers are making the switch to Prepar3d

Oh I get the question.

When you open/run NI, it displays the Global_Driver_Profile by default.  If you want to display the FSX Profile, you have to use the drop down and select it from the list.   However, this does not mean that FSX is not using the profile that you have set, providing that you have told NI to work when FSX is running.  The only way to get NI to display FSX when you run it is to remove all other profiles, which I would not do under any circumstances.

Hi RichD

Thanks for your suggestion, but how do I get NI to use that fsx profile coz when I click on Apply Changes, I have no idea if it is actually doing so as at KORD I oughta have been getting better than 5FPS. Rest of your logic, I follow.

Hi Rick,

Are you using FSX-DX9 or DX10?  The settings differ a little between DX9 and DX10.  You should blow out your FSX.CFG after an nVidia Inspector or nVidia driver change, set inspector then do your FSX.CFG.

Can you post a copy of your FSX.CFG?

Hi Robert

Thanks for that. Will do. I just deleted the FSX.cfg after I had tried to get NI to set the FSX Profile. But that was before I read your FSX Profile settings which were missing from mine after the NI Update. But not changed the FSX.cfg after altering the NI FSX Profile.

As requested, here's the FSX.cfg:

Hi Rick,

You can make changes any time you want to the FSX.CFG once Inspector is set.  I see that you Procspeed result is pretty low and we should get that one up a little, that is a good indication that you have room to move so to speak.  nI think the reason you did not see the outside of the aircraft is because you did not have the HIGHMEMFIX edit in your .cfg.

Make sure to set your screen to 1920x1080x32 (yours is currently 1920x1080x16) and make sure to set the desktop resolution to match your fsx setting.  Here are a few .cfg edits that may work for you:

[bUFFERPOOLS]
UsePools=1
Poolsize=10485760  //8388608
RejectThreshold=524288  //262144

Mine is set to:

[bUFFERPOOLS]
UsePools=0  //I have a GTX 780

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=14  //This enables FSX to run on all cores =84 if hyperthreading was enabled in your BIOS

[GRAPHICS]
TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048
HIGHMEMFIX=1
MultiSamplesPerPixel=4         //Default=4 Must have for good AA  Can be 8 (Tied to SGSS in NI)
MultiSampleQuality=4            //  Can be 4 for better performance.

[Display]
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120
UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=30
WideViewAspect=True

[Main]
ProcSpeed=//19307 (This result comes automatically when the .cfg is rebuilt or this value deleted)
DisablePreload=1
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.18  // Default is 0.33, mine works best with 0.12

[Weather]
CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=3
DETAILED_CLOUDS=1
CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=8

[TERRAIN]
LOD_RADIUS=4.500000
MESH_COMPLEXITY=100
MESH_RESOLUTION=24
TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=29
AUTOGEN_DENSITY=4
DETAIL_TEXTURE=1
WATER_EFFECTS=4

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti  .0]

TriLinear=1
AntiAlias=1 Turn off

Add
[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=254

Yep, Rich is right, disable antialiasing by setting it to =0.

Why a setting of AM=254 Rich?  Default is 0.33

Rob, I use to use AM=14 but as I have an 8 core i7 now and I use SIMstarter that allows you to change all sorts of settings hence 254.
