Is it it's own sim meaning can I un install fsx and 2004 and still run it or is fsx required

Prepar3D is a totally separate flightsim. It does not require FSX.

 

Both FSX and P3D are based on Microsoft ESP PC-based visual simulation software platform, but LM is developing this platform further than what was done with FSX. That's the simple explanation.

That totally depends on your PC and on how far you push the graphic sliders to the right. It is similar to comparing an older version of a PC game with a newer version. The newer version may look better, but unless you have the hardware to handle those graphic improvements, you are going to have to back off the settings a bit to get decent frame rates.

 

P3D2 requires a DX11 graphics card and is more GPU focused than FSX, but it is not yet fully SLI optimized.

 

The level of graphics for P3D2 is higher than with FSX, so you cannot compare the performance of the two sims directly (for example, things like autogen and traffic setting give a bit different results).

My specs are windows 7

1tb hard drive

2gb ram

512mb graphics card

I'm afraid that your specs are below the minimum requirements.  The system requirements for Prepar3D v.2 are HERE.

Also a celeron d processor at 3.10ghz
