May 19, 201412 yr Here's something else to try gents, before hitting the start switch and after pressing F1, press Ctrl+Shift+F4 (typically full rich mixture in a prop plane), and see if that does the trick. May 19, 201412 yr Mine is always running, I never had it loaded C&D... Is there a situation that you guys are loading for the heli to show up C&D? I just fire up P3Dv2 and on the Situation load screen I select the heli, airport and hit the OK button to start flying. It has some very unusual flight characters, if you're used to fly default heli or Cessna's. I wonder if that's a good thing or not. Regards, Vital Vanbeginne
May 19, 201412 yr It is important with this aircraft to set the ACM for the different versions and to start a flight from the Free Flight Menu or Prepar3D Training Scenario Setup window . Saved Flights that load one at an airport with another aircraft in a Cold & Dark state will cause problems with startup . There are two Flight Models available for the 407 , in the aircraft.cfg for each livery the line sim=Bell407 can be changed to sim=Pedal_Bell407. The pedal version has a great deal more torque and as a result is more of a challenge to fly but is more realistic , the amount of torque can be then adjusted in the realism settings under torque effects .

The configuration manager (external to P3D/FSX) allows you to set each livery up to either start cold-and-dark or ready-to-go. May 19, 201412 yr Saved Flights that load one at an airport with another aircraft in a Cold & Dark state will cause problems with startup. Can you clarify ... for example the process I use (in all cases not just the 407): 1. Start P3D with another aircraft (A36 for example) 2. Move to airport of choice 3. Set time/date 4. Select the vehicle - in this case the 407 5. Save Flight 6. Exit P3D 7. Start P3D by clicking on the Saved flight (i.e. KSFO_407.fxml) 8. Do cold and dark start Is this a valid process for cold start of the 407? Cheers, Rob.
May 19, 201412 yr Commercial Member No what he means is if the aircraft you start with (eg in your analogy the A36) is cold and dark you will have problems. May 20, 201412 yr Author Sometimes it happens that the Bell 407 doesn't fully start up even in the ready-to-go mode. Using real time weather may causing this problem. I use ASN to inject the weather. I found out that the Bell 407 is a bit sensible at this point as already mentioned in the delivery email. I guess it is when the wind blow to much in the exhaust track. I only turn the chopper 180 degrees around and it always starts up after this. Easy to do: Go to the map and change the heli position. Spirit
May 20, 201412 yr The configuration manager (external to P3D/FSX) allows you to set each livery up to either start cold-and-dark or ready-to-go. Ofcourse, I forgot about that one  Also I must learn to read the manual... I always get alarms going off when I increase throttle.. wait a minute, I believe they call it torque in a heli? Regards, Vital Vanbeginne
May 22, 201412 yr Commercial Member If you over torque the engine (over 100%) it will beep at you and, after a bit, destroy your engine. As well, rpm is te thing that beeps. It does that for real too. All the time. Please contact oisin at milviz dot com for forum registration information. Please provide proof of purchase if you want support. July 11, 201411 yr I just purchased the B407 for P3D 2.2 a few days ago and it is really nice. I had it working great for a few flights, however now starting this helo is more miss than hit. I can't get it started and despite sending a couple requests for a support forum login I haven't heard from them. Glad I found this post. At least I know I am not alone with this particular issue. I'll will try a few of the ideas posted here. Thanks Steve
July 11, 201411 yr Author Don't have problems with the ready to fly mode. Spirit PS: After asking with email I got the support forum login within a day or two. The proof of purchase is a must to attach to the email.
