Horizontal "tearing" of picture

Recommended Posts

Is this normal?

I'm new to DX10, I have purchased the fixer and set things up I think correctly based on the information I can find, but I get an issue where the picture is kind of "tearing" horizontally. For example if I move the aircraft around I can see kind of horizontal "bands" where the scnerey doesn't quite line up between the top half of the image and the bottom half, where the "tear" is.

Really kind of hard to describe in words, I might have to get a picture or video up.

Does anyone know what I mean? I'm guessing it's something not quite right in my Inspector setup.

Thanks all.

Also, this water looks very wrong, really pixellated. Is it just where I'm zoomed in so far?

I've just gone through a lengthy hardware change and it's been some time since I've flown so can't actually remember if this is how it's always been! Senior moment...

How annoying, I've just recorded a video of the issue and it doesn't come out on the video, smooth as silk!

Here are my NI and in game settings. Any tips greatly appreciated!

Do you have "DisablePreLoad=1" under the [Main] section of your fsx.cfg?

Hi Paul

Yes I do, is this something I shouldn't have under DX10?

Many thanks

No - that line has to be in the cfg in order to get vSync..... but...

Looking at your specs - I see you're using two monitors - and that's the reason for the vSync issue. Open up the guide (sig at bottom) and look at page 16: it's still a bit convoluted, but it will get rid of the issue. You need (or can try)  the "pseudo-fullscreen + Aero" fix, or the "D3D Overider" fix. I'm not 1000% sure the Overider will do it, though, as I've not really had a chance to play with it as I would want to.

Come back here if you need more help on it.

Paul - simply running D3D Overrider before starting FSX seems to have solved the problem! Many thanks!

Indeed! I use FSX in Windowed mode on one monitor, using LINDA to replicate fullscreen mode.

On the other, I have Navigraph charts, Flight planning software, internet browser, active sky etc etc!

I'm afraid you've lost me Paul!

I simply run LINDA before I start FSX and it has a preset shortcut which hides the top title bar and simulates a full screen mode even though you're still in windowed. Nothing fancy going on here!

Another tool to play with! Just downloaded 1.13. Thanks for mentioning this, MDF: I call a couple of LUA scripts from the FSUIPC.ini, but completely forgot that this GUI existed. This is what happens when you're past 50....

Cheers,
