Scenery Config Experts. Need Help.

Recommended Posts

I think the order of items in my scenery config is messed up.

I tried doing a screen capture and posting it, but got an error message from the forum saying that I was not allowed to include that typr of file.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Copy and paste the contents of the file into a post. I realize it will be a long response.

Our system will not upload .exe, .cfg type files so you need to rename it as Scenery.txt.

Ok, just to demonstrate how confused I am, I was actually looking at the order of scenery areas in the scenery config editor app, where the order of the areas seem haphazard. But you guys lead me to look at my scenery.cfg file in the FSX folder, which I find has 115 areas and no add-on areas. Then I found another scenery config file in c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX. That scenery.cfg file has 191 areas just like appear in the scenery.cfg editor, but the order of the areas has no relationship to the scenery.cfg editor.

I think what I'm trying to straighten out is the order in the editor, because the other 2 seem OK, although I don't understand why the 2 scenery.cfg's are different and I sure don't understand the relationship between the 3 files.

Before I take this forum down by pasting all 3 files, please let me know which ones you need.

Thanks much.

I had a horrible time with Scenery Config Editor, finally loosing all the titles of my scenery enteries... Forcing a complete reinstall. I've managed without it since.

The one in your FSX folder is a 'dummy' and is not working. There's also one in the same folder as where your fsx.cfg is located. This one should never be deleted or edited.

The one in the C:/Program Data folder is the working scenery.cfg.
