May 18, 201412 yr Probably right, Im thinking of using P3d for general aviation and keep FSX for PMDG I see they have a 60 day refund as welll Zoran...I advise that you give yourself plenty of 'grace build up time', at first. This sim is different enough from your experience with FSX, that you might find your configuration choices with the actual sim, as well as nVidia Inspector...might gut your FPS. At first, my FPS were at around 8 FPS. I kept plugging away, with things in the .cfg file...nvidia...etc...and how have the sim looking fantastic...pretty much opened right up, and getting a sustained 17-20 FPS...which in P3D...will give you smooth performance, as much as seen in FSX at 30 FPS! This is a true statement. You can even get micro-stutter to say goodbye, with some work on your part. Once you have it locked down, do a system backup...and/or write down your settings...and enjoy. You'll soon forget that there was ever offered a refund policy....lol. Wellllll, I got it. I have the Turbine Duke fully functional in it and Orbx NCA and PNW. FSUIPC is working great. The default lighting is substantially better than FSX default lighting. The cloud shadows and in-cockpit sunshine and shadows are really cool. Haze layer is cool (I have the line some folks are reporting...but it's cool.) I have my settings pretty similar to FSX settings. I still have some issues, though: It's not currently as smooth as my FSX. I did set the JobSchedular and Bufferpools as per the recommendation above. Frame rates are a bit lower right now and definite stuttering. I'm getting jaggies, despite using the same nVidea Inspector profile as FSX. I use 8xSGSS in FSX so I'm surprised. Lighting, while better than default, is not quite yet as good as I have in FSX with ENB. In-cockpit, it's dark...can't even read some labels in broad daylight. Outside is good...a little darker than I run FSX. Cloud shadows are kinda dark...almost have a charcoal color to them. I'll have to dig through and find what settings folks are using. You'll get it to where you like it...settings and all. It took me a few days to get the wrinkles out..lol, but the result is amazing. I tried out FSX last night with some recent airports..and FSX is a wonderful piece of work as well. I believe that there is no reason for anyone to turn their backs on any installed platform (unless system space is an issue), and that you can fly any of them, at any time...for any reason. That's the bottom line, really. I love P3D for what new technology of rendering it employs...want to support LM in taking this up (thank goodness!), and am enjoying them all! Have fun.
May 18, 201412 yr Hi Greg: Have you looked at my guide do this and you will be much better off buddy - also looks like my cfg settings will work well with your cpu also - any problems let me know in that post - darkness will get better with sweetfx - dump ENB link http://forum.avsim.n...new-user-guide/ Richard, That helped some. The stutters aren't as noticeable (though they're quite pronounced on a 30 degree bank.) My framerate is up to near 40. I haven't found any settings yet to help with the AA. Started learning with SweetFX. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
May 18, 201412 yr Author Sweet will take care of your AA - just follow directions - shut down Anti- virus also and run game booster 3,00 - have to search for that as it is an older version - new one is bloatware - it will ask you to update it ignore that - hang in there its glorious cant believe they are going to make it better that should be something to see. Also try 35 fps in slider - unlimited is not good with NI settings - fps all over the place Rich Sennett

Thanks for the tips. Yes it will be a very slow build up in preparation for PMDG so I have all the time in the world to get it right :-) ZORAN
May 18, 201412 yr Sweet will take care of your AA I tried the settings he recommended for SweetFX...a bunch of settings for AA but didn't see any improvement. I don't know anything about that app yet. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090

Gregg, Let us know how that works out. My system is in the shop right now getting another hard drive added, but am curious to see how things work for you as I have a somewhat similar system. May 19, 201412 yr Guys, just remember this is a sim that works differently at its core. the changes LM made will mean a lot of your usual tweaks need to be re-worked. My system is not great but I have got the sim running smoothly and with no problems. First thing I learnt is what gets sent where. The biggest killers of your system are scenery and cloud. Both in terms of density and shadows. That is the number one item. If you are just setting up, you do not need to have Mesh Resolution higher than 5M. That extra step means a big amount of workload. - Start with both autogen sliders at SPARSE...from experience, you dont really need to go higher that "NORMAL" setting. Going high on this produces stutters. - Level of Detail Radius....again, no need to go super high. This will put a big drain in your system. - Cloud coverage Density to Maximum will make your graphics card work really hard...condier setting High to start with. - Experiment with Tesselation. With my modest card, I found setting tesselation to ULTRA balances the load from my modest CPU to the GPU....but I am not using a Bufferpools setting in my config. The way LM has managed the load, I am not convinced Bufferpools will break more than it fixes. I stopped using NI and have my frames locked at 25. My system is smooth as butter, and looks great. It is good to see the community here helping each other. Well, as of last night we didn't see much improvement. Rich and I worked together for hours making my system like his and I still had jaggies and stutters. I could tweak here and there to get them down some but they were still there. I've been working backwards this morning. I cut waaaaay back on everything, deleted the NI profile (after backing it up). Still dark, jaggies and much less smooth than FSX. Begin Phase 2: Complete uninstall...delete all leftover directories including config directory...reboot...reinstall vanilla...reboot...still jaggies...crank up only the image and texture quality...not as bad but still jaggies and shimmering. You have to zoom in a good amount on this photo to get what I see on a 42" HD TV. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane.
