May 19, 201412 yr Hi everyone :-) As some asked me how this or this works, and I remember how difficult my beginning were on modifying xplane sceneries a time ago, I thought I'd make a very simple video, taking as example a badly-placed scenery. It's not an A-Z tutorial, but just covers one method... sounds simple, but it took me time to find out how to do that, last year ^^ The rest is english spoken inside the vid... If you have sugestions on what a video would be usefull too, don't hesitate, always open to new ideas and constructive critics PC Specs: i7 4820K (WC), AsusP9X79, 64GbRam 1866, GTX Titan 6Gb Black Edition, trhustmaster warthog, trackIR5, ... June 18, 201411 yr Blacky 75, Excellent video, and I'm sure I will find it useful as I start playing around with X-Plane scenery modification. Since I have a very large library of sceneries from FS9 and FSX, one skill I am at the moment trying to learn is using FS2XPL. One thing I have discovered right away is that, even after running the conversion, there is still usually a little to a lot of editing to be done. There is a three-part video on YouTube showing how this is done for Fly Tampa's St. Maarten. While it's an excellent video, the author presumes more knowledge than I have. Nevertheless, I learned a lot from these videos. Have you attempted to convert sceneries, and, if so, would you be willing to create a tutorial on converting, maybe, a simpler airport with complete explanation of every step? I tried a simple airport and a complex set of airports. The first was Stark's Twin Oaks by ORBX, and the second was Flight Scenery's Portland, which included four airports. With the latter, there is a tremendous amount of editing to be done, at least for me. Others have reported that little editing is required. There is runway and taxiway misalignment, with the default runways and taxiways not lining up with Flight Scenery's runway and taxiways. I experimented with one of the airports, Troutdale (KTTD). Using Overlay Editor, I removed the scenery package's textures, and just left the default X-plane tarmac. Additionally I created an object overlay to keep buildings from the default airport from poking up through Flight Scenery's buildings. That worked great, except, now I am missing the beautiful tarmac textures form Flight Scenery. Additionally, there was another problem. The Fight Scenery set placed some photo scenery over the whole area (roughly about 10 nm on a side). This looked great in FS9, but horrible in X-Plane. Again I experimented with OE and found that I could click on these textures and remove them. So, I am learning a few techniques, but I have a long, long way to go. In my opinion, there is no faster way to learn than a tutorial, so I would encourage you to keep up the good work. I thank you for all that you have done so far for the X-plane community! Are you the one who did the European style buildings available on SimHeaven? Well, they are quite a nice addition to OSM scenery. My thanks to you or whoever created that addition. Best regards, Tom
