Another Tough Day

Recommended Posts

So this morning I decided I would take the helicopter out for some hover and backwards flying time. I’m at the town of Glennallen next to Gulkana (PAGK) airport.  I’m the host, so I get to select the weather, and in this case I selected HEAVY WEATHER.

In the first shot I am just east of the town with a 43kts, wind from the west.

Next I went in for a closer look at this water tower, I had another shot when I was right at it, but deleted it accidently.

Here I going to land on top of the building that my shadow is on.

I am down, but shown about 2-3ft. above it, must be something to do with the two rectangular objects on the roof.

With the engine at idle and full flaps, I’m being pushed backwards toward the edge of the building.

I notice an odd looking building just off my left wing tip and go in for a closer look.

As I get close my wind drops to 32kts. So I cannot hover at this point.

Next I slow fly by the water tower to the left.

I then went back to the building next to the one I had landed on. (The wind returned to 43kts).

I was about to land on it, when I changed my mind and decided instead to go for service station canopy.

And now it’s time for another cup of coffee.

Until next time, all have a good day!    “It’s a good day to fly”

Very  good J.R. just don't get out of the aircraft or you will find yourself on the ground looking up. Aircraft can land on things that will not support people. :P You can also drive across bridges but not walk across, done it many times, great fun.

Information registered, I must admit I never have thought of getting out of the plane in that situation.

Moderators noted unexpected levels of enthusiasm in the Microsoft Flight forum.
Wasn't this sim meant to be dead? :P

I'm on vacation at the beach with very poor internet service so  I just noticed the "Risk of Closure" flag. I don't know why it was placed either so I removed it.

Rock on fellows.

Thank you.

Thank you 188AHC, I thought it possibly had to do with too many pictures. I had 16 in the initial post, so I delete one. Thinking that maybe 15 was the limit to a post, but the tag didn’t go away. I went in and modified my post again and deleted 4 more pictures, and again no change with the tag. So I went into the Image Posting Rules to see how many pictures were allowed to a post, ( I have not been in there since I registered with AVSIM) and I interpreted it to say 20. So at this time I (line from movie Paul  ) just had to roll the dice to see what happens. (That will always be one of my favorite movies).

And I would like to express my sincere apology to olli4740.  B)

Much Thanks To All!

This is a couple of shots at Mc Gahan Industrial Airpark (AK73) where I had a 68kt wind to hover and land in. Here I had to stay throttled up, or the wind would push me off of the building with ease.

I crashed once. But as you can see, both the plane and I came out of it without even a scratch.

And this ladies and gentlemen is a SS of the notorious (bridge flyer underer) Louis. I got notified at he had entered Live, so I sent an invite to him to join me at Kodiak AK.  We flew around the area for a bit, and then went for the bridge!

I parked it for the day at Kodiak (PADQ)

Glad to see this increased interest in Multiflyer.  It's fun to check in on what other pilots are up to.  Recently I participated in one of JRs clandestine missions.  I was waiting for him at the airport in my black Icon and busted him as he was unloading!
