February 22, 200521 yr Bruce,I guess it depends on time you spend with flying the FS. When I'm not busy at work or home, I make that day 2 or 3 flights (OK, I usually accelerate time at cruise level), usually each in a different aircraft. Of course when I get a new add-on, I focus on it and I don't fly anything else but that takes about week to me or something like that. Then I get back to older add-on's etc. The most of the aircraft systems are very similar to each other and when you can program FMC in 737, you will make it in ATR-72 as well and so on. I store all checklists, performance data etc. in my PDA, so it is quite easy to tune up myself to the aircraft I'm going to fly.So I have no problems with getting two add-on's in one month. I just study them in parallel and I find this as a fun and the enjoyment I'm looking for in FS.Bye
February 22, 200521 yr >>Vernon-->> Didn't say there was any harm involved, I was just curious>about the reason. Is it so you can tell your wife that>everybody else spends just as much? Or is it guilt for>spending on a hobby you love? I use both excuses, by the>way.:-xxrotflmao :-xxrotflmao :-xxrotflmaoi'm gonna show my wife this thread then.would want to buy the DF 727 :9but somehow i think i'll not be able to buy it :) tataJP
February 22, 200521 yr >wow .. 10/month ... i did not realize that that many titiles>are >released per ... at your clip, you bought 120 payware titles>>>I normally buy about 5 per year..>>VernonLOL well I started in June, and stopped buying at that rate in November or so, I have pretty much every GA payware plane out there now. Problem is I only use a handfull of them (Mostly the Flight1 planes) so it indeed was quite a waste. x( Basically I have a nasty spending habit :-lol As for the ones I get, it's mostly aircraft, the only scenery I get is large area (Mesh, roads) and the Georenders. Most other sceneries just murder performance I find.
February 22, 200521 yr I have not bought any since the end of last year. There has been no major releases from any of the top tier developers (like Fly-Tampa, Simflyers, LDS, OSS, PMDG, etc....) for long while. These past two months have sucked for new releases and I hope that ends soon. Eric
February 22, 200521 yr Ive Got 8 this month, and thats nothing, yes sadly I am addicted to FS in a big way, But then I work hard, I have no family such as kids, just My Future wife who is a lawyer, I dont drink Alchohol at all, and hardly -if ever go out on big nights with friends as we are just all so busy, I hate sports (all sports) , so the money I dont spend pouring down my throate, or paying through the nose to watch 12 men kick a ball around, I spend on FS add-ons. Dont think I have a sad life Me and MY future wife & her friends often go out, eat in top resturants, and I work out at the gymn 3 times a week, and I save as much money as I can, But im not tight if you know what I mean.Buying FS Addons is my version of the things I dont do above, which in the long run is a whole lot cheaper, especially in london where a Shot can cost as much as
February 22, 200521 yr I buy maybe one every few months. However, I'm running out of items on my "wish" list, as they've been covered by most payware releases. I'd still love to see someone do a nice Lancair IV-P, especially one backward compatible with FS2002. After my last purchase from FSD, I've been hoping they'd consider it--their Avanti is very nice and FS2002 compatible. And their coming 337 may indeed be my next purchase, as it looks awesome. I think a Lancair in their hands would be a winner..-John

February 22, 200521 yr I've bought a huge a number of payware titles...up until about 6 months ago. Since then I've only bought the Dreamfleet 727 and a couple of FS9 products to enhance the flightsim experience such as flightkeeper, voice buddy, and FS2Crew for the PMDG 737 series.Bottom line is that unless I now see some more innovative addons I don't bother. I'm speaking particularly about planes. Unless they have fully functional and nicely textured VC's I don't bother. It appears the upcoming 767 to be published by F1 and PMDG's 747 may fall into that category. I'm much more particular about my choices now. If I'm going to be paying $40+ it better measure up in every way.
February 22, 200521 yr I got back into simming after a 4 year hiatus and getting a new PC, and started adding payware add on's rather quickly. Active Sky, Ultimate Traffic made the sim look much more like real flying. Then I started plane shopping because I don't like the handling of the default aircraft. PMDG 737 and ATR-72 were purchased about 2 months apart. From that point I just buy what really appeals to me. My latest purchase is Misty Fjords, which has just about the best scenery I have ever seen in a simultor. At the same time as Misty Fjords, I discovered "Bush" flying, and got the Aerosoft Beaver, which is a superb plane to fly in FS. At this point, I will probably not buy any new payware for a long time. Free add-ons are available on an almost constant basis for Misty Fjords, and I am going to add everyone I can get my hands on. Instead of adding scenery here and there, I am going to focus on this one area of Alaska and keep building on it. There are so many things to do flying and exporing in that scenery, that the boredom factor is zero. All of a sudden, I am realizing that I love VFR flying, if the scenery is good, and the plane flys well, just as I do in real life. And the cost to upgrade now is almost nil. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/107730.jpg
February 22, 200521 yr >Go to www.lancair.com ...>>Some amazing aircraft there :)>>-Johnindeed :)those are smart & sleek looking planes.i'm off to do some research on them :-kewl thanks for the link John.here's to hoping someone will model one.i wouldn't mind flying that :)tataJP.** i knew it could not possibly be some 4 engine prop...oh well :-hah **
February 22, 200521 yr In the interests of strengthening marriages and relationships throughout our great simming world, I suggest that this question be quietly locked and allowed to slide its way down into oblivion. Questions of this nature can only lead to strife and conflict in the homes of simmers with significant others should the truth ever become known....
February 24, 200521 yr I don't know if you've seen the freeware offering by Robert Christopher...legacy5.zipwith airfile fix...legair.zipHave fun up there,Kevin
