June 3, 201412 yr I've been reading along and I would like to give this a try, Do I Have The Steps Correct? Mike there seemed to be errors in the scripts Denali posted above, unless of course he has fixed them. Best to use the files he provides via Dropbox. gb. YSSY. June 3, 201412 yr The 150x40 view gave better picture quality, but still quite far from the original resolution. I understand one cannot get the same quality, since quite a lot of the available information has to be vasted, but hoping you hunt down what ever it takes to make it a bit better than present. Until then I'm in standard virtual cockpit and windowed view, using Autohotkey to horizontally set 4500 (automatically centering), and to expand height from 1080 to 1120 (removes the window-bar on top). At least it somewhat fixes the streeeetched-out side-views and nice to get there at the click of a button. Didn't even know such a utility exist, so thank you! Olewww.flightsimnorway.com
August 14, 201411 yr This problem was bought to the attention of LM late last year. It wasn't corrected for v2.2. but has this been corrected in V2.3? Thanks Gary
August 14, 201411 yr Author No, there is no official fix in 2.3. I am going to begin seeing if I can get some help from LM on this issue, and I'm also interested in the FOV issue. Watching 2.3 it almost seems to be compiling scenery, as some others have also observed, things become smoother and clearer as the sim runs, which is odd. The idea for the oversizing and then fitting to screen came from the idea of downsampling. It usually smooths a display out a bit. At 140x I don't see that much grainyness. I have noticed another "downsampling" shader that looks like it's left over from fsx, which has some kind of filter which I wonder if usable, or may be made usable with LM's help. Still, I honestly can't go back to the old stretch views, they make me quezy. Also, with the distance that movement has to cover in side views because of the stretch it makes fps more noticeable. I've been away from home but I still plan attacking this issue with more energy in the very sort future. September 22, 201411 yr Have you succeeded in making an installer ? September 22, 201411 yr Author I'm gonna try right now to clean up what I've got and get it out. I've had someone else take a look at it here and some may not like the slight grainyness that it causes, so the next step would be to see if I can get some insight from LM. But I can't go back to "the smear" as I call it. I even see it in TV sometimes and just gag. September 22, 201411 yr Author To anyone that has tried this and not been satisfied with the "grainyness". I think the issue is pretty simple. It's 140x50, not 150x40! Based on this thread, the error in communication, my fault, may exist in the camera.cfg file. Trying to work with code I haven't touched in a while is slow going at first, but I am beginning to make the fixes, catch the mistakes, like the one above, that I was afraid I would be pushing out to you all this time. Not too long now. September 27, 201411 yr G'day, I'd love to give this a go as well but shudder at the thought of doing it without the installer. Would be great if you could roll out some sort of automated installer. October 17, 201411 yr Hi Denali, i've the same problem like gboz. My screens go black as well. With AS01 and with P3D "WideviewDistortion" effect. I didn't find a solution for that in this so far. I thought that there might be an copy/paste issue with the shader code like you said. Unfortunately I was not able to download it with the link you posted. The file doesn't exist. But I'm confused that the original "WideviewDistortion" effect doesn't work neither. Might it be a problem with my Nvidea settings? I've 3 monitors with a resolution of 5888 x 1080. (bezel corrected) Have 2 VGA cards on SLI modus. I really like the wider view while flying but the distortion is really bothering. Thanks for your work so far and your help. Thomas

October 17, 201411 yr Author I really like the wider view while flying but the distortion is really bothering. Tomorrow I will be placing my rebuilt server in the cockpit and connect it to my 3 led tv's. Therefore I am curious if anyone has this working .... Not sure if you saw the new thread. I've made a simple installer for it. It seems to work well, at least for me, I've gotten very little feedback. I can tell you that with DSR much of the graininess that can be seen is done away with. Downsampling is what is needed for this and it's problem of graininess; it is effectively using a downsampling method as it is with the oversizing and clipping. Oversizing a view, even with downsampling, doesn't affect FPS because a modern card knows to only direct it's computing relevant to the size of the view/display, and it dumps the work from the previous buffer bit by bit (AFAIK), so memory use is also not affected much. I've done some work within P3D with Simconnect, but P3D doesn't respond to window resizes in a very stable way (It handles the "window has been resized" message from Windows for some reason and resets the size the view to the display size) Please try the new app found in the first entry of this thread: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/452305-prepp3d-views-peripheral-distortion-correction/ I really believe everyone should try this if they are using DSR because it will correct the distortion for any large display as well. It's not intrusive, meaning you can "set it aside and just not use it" without uninstalling if you're not sure you like it, or you can uninstall it as well. I use it and I could never go back. October 17, 201411 yr I was following this a while back, but am not willing to spend hours trouble shooting which can be the case. I'm running P3D on two Dell Ultrasharps; One with the VC and the other with some gauges or Flight1's GNS 750. The third one is running ASN and AivlaSoft's EFB. I don't know who was behind the development of the GNS gauge, but it is a seriously cool piece of software. Little if any FPS hit as well. Highly recommended.
