A2a Update to V2.0. I Can't Find the Process To get and Install?

There are bits and pieces of comentary on the A2A forums but no one place that explains the process and what data is needed by the customer.

 

APPARENTLY:

A P3D owner of the A2a C172 is required to prove that they have not used the product in FSX for more than 3 hours. 

 

There is no mention of how to provide that proof and in what form. 

 

All I see is people saying to buy the new P3D version of the product and mail in your rebate request to offset the $50 you just spent for the second time. First I never trust rebate schemes. To receive the rebate you request you must prove that you only used the original for< 3 hours. My$50 is setting in the A2A bank account and I have no idea how to offset it with an alleged rebate. I am not about to spend $50 only to find that my proof does not properly show that I used the product in FSX for no more than 3 hours. Can anyone explain this process especially the form of the proof and how to get it???

Where did you see the 3hrs mentioned,I read on A2A that some people believed that the were getting a free license exchange ,it seems a total mess to me!!, only bought the aircraft 3 /4 weeks ago now they want me to purchase again and apply to get a rebate,why did they not use a system like Milviz,ifly,Rex etc you pay only for the new installer,whatever the version of P3d you use ,should I just use it as it is without the update after all A2A told me it could be used in P3d on their forums,I  have always paid for any P3d updates but somehow this has left a funny taste in my mouth,

Only thing I can tell you is that I had the same concerns as you, but took a chance on it anyway. A2A handled it very fairly and very quickly.

I didn't have to 'prove' anything.

I just purchased P3D version and got my rebate in less than 30 minutes.

A2A is very good with technology. But they are VERY poor managing updates and customer questions. I still do not know if the 3 hour rule applies to me and it seems I have to commit $50 to find out. Information is piecemeal and scattered throughout there forums. I do not have $50 to place on the betting table in the hopes I pass some test and get some sort of rebate. Terrible customer service.

I'll admit I was confused on the wording, too. In the end, don't think about the 3hour limit too much. If you're P3D only, then get only the P3D version (pro, academic, etc). I did that and got my rebate in under 30 minutes. If you're sticking with fsx in addition to p3d, then get the bundle and choose the $30 rebate option.

 

The process was so smooth... I'll buy the Cherokee when it is released, just because I want A2A to have my full support now.

Dick, I agree with you : it looks very confusing.

English is not my mother language, but what I understand is that if you purchased the C172 for FSX, mainly to use it in P3D and have not used it for more than 3 hours in FSX, they will transfer your FSX license to P3D.  But as you pointed out, they do not tell you how to check the number of hours you ran the C172.

What looks confusing to me is that I don't know if the rebate policy also applies if I purchase the P3D version after having purchased the FSX version in september of last year.  And then, why not give me an immediate discount, because they have my previous purchase details in their system?

I agree that they haven't handled the Prepar3D licencing matter very well, and a lot of trouble would be saved by eliminating that 3-hour rule. From what I can infer in their forums, if you have used the C172 in FSX for more than 3 hours, then as soon as you use the Prepar3D version with which you exchanged your FSX licence, a piracy flag will be set off and prohibit you from using the product.

P3D is a commercial platform and we're aware people are spending a lot of money to Lockheed Martin to be a part of this platform.  For example, there was no upgrade path to P3Dv2, existing P3Dv1 customers had to pay full price.  Big bucks are being spent, and there is only so much a customer base can take before it starts to implode.

 

We're doing our best to give our existing customers a price break, and so far, it's been working very well for them.   Just follow the instructions in the link - we've not had a single hang up through the wave of the first launch.  This is a manual process on our end, so we read the emails and are happy to work with people on an individual basis.

Just been to A2A to ask a question but the thread has been locked,so if I purchased this Aircraft on the 25.4.14 straight onto P3d v2.2 no time at all on fsx ,do I get a free license swap or not ,does any one have a clue where i look for information  thanks

Yes you get the $50 rebate, you just have to buy the new P3D version first then send them the email with details.
