What´s the latest info regarding ASN and overcast conditions?

Recommended Posts

I wonder what are the latest setting recommendations concerning the AS Next and the overcast conditions?

I noticed that nothing has changed on my end. Overcast at ground and climbing out, but when over clouds its suddenly scattered...

This seems to be persistent problem.

Yes, I have read those threads even when they were discussed. But I did not see any solution to that in either case.

So we just have to live with it?

As discussed there, the issue is inherent to the way the cloud rendering system is designed and works in fsx (2d sprites rotated to face the camera and this way give the illusion of 3d clouds). We can only improve things, but we won't get a 100% satisfactory result, unless the whole cloud rendering system is redesigned from scratch.

One of the things you could do is use the Enhance IMC conditions option (that may or may not degrade performance though). One other thing is to select a less "transparent" texture as suggested in the linked thread.

Thanks,

Kostas Terzides

Ok, thanks.

I try to live with it as it is otherwise a fine programme. I have had the enhanced option selected already. Nowadays I use Rex4 textures.
