Captain Sim 757 Crash to Desktop (FMS)

So basically, this is an issue like no other. When flying the Captain Sim 757 I get a crash to desktop. This does not happen instantly, however. This usually happens when I am a quarter of the way through the flight. There is simply no warning, just, (Microsoft Flight Simulator X has stopped working). 

 

So I decided to go in to the Event Viewer and found the following details related to the error:

So it appears to be related directly to the Captain_Sim.b.757.fms.GAU file, but I am not sure what is actually causing the crash. I've re-installed my Captain Sim product and still, nothing!

 

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

It's always a bad idea to install the FSX into Program Files x86. FSX can't deal with the Windows User Account Control. No matter if it's disabled or not. 

 

Best solution is simply not install the FSX in Program Files. A second HDD or a Partition of your current HDD should work.

I see where you're coming from, though this only happens with the Captain Sim 757. I simply do not get this problem with other aircraft? I might just switch to Qualitywings, though the interior model looks far less.. 'Complete'..

I would recommend just switching to QW. As somebody who has flown on 757's many times QW really gives me a lot better sense of actually being there than the CS does... I guess it's a mixture of superior flight dynamics & sounds.

I completely agree with you! But the interior modelling of the Captain Sim looks so damn nice.. There are aspects of the QualityWings that simply lack, (such as the cockpit compass and lack of a cabin), though there are others that beat Captain Sim such as the inclusion of the 300 series and freighter models.. Just I feel the interior lets the aircraft down a bit.. Oh well!

The CS 757 is a nice aircraft. There are a few here on AVSIM who like other developer products but that does not fix your problem. AVSIM has an unofficial CaptainSim support forum here and I remember this problem was discussed soon after the product was released. I got this crash a lot back then too. There's a later version of the Captain_Sim.b757.fms.GAU. It is now at 4.6. Back when I was having problems, I would power on the weather button and the sim would crash immediately. If I did not power on the weather, no crash. Go to the Captain Sim website and make sure you have the latest version of this product.

ive got the same exact thing...was a cause ever found?

 

i have the newest version installed and i get the same crash shortly in the flight...same error report

Disable the FSUIPC.dll in the modules folder by renaming it to fsuipc.off.  FSUIPC is not required. 

Make sure, when you installed CS757, you right clicked the installation program and selected "Run as Administrator".  I have not seen anyone having problems with this gauge since the update to 4.6.  Google does not indicate there was ever any problems other than this thread.

Hi Jim...Thank for responding...do you think this is an FSUIPC issue?...Ive been flying the 757 passenger for years with no issues...But I just got the freighter and I get a CTD somewhere in the flight almost every time with it...Thanks again

It was a suggestion to turn off fsuipc.dll just to see if it is the problem.  I guess I suggested it as I have been getting a lot of crashes myself lately and it was all due to the fact I did not have the latest fsuipc installed.
