Anyone using GeForce 337.88 in FSX?

Recommended Posts

I always get butterflys in my stomach installing new video drivers waiting to see if the PC successfully reboots.  Has anyone tried these  new drivers out at all in FSX.  ideally on a 680gtx over 3 monitors?

I upgraded my drivers a few months ago, but since then when I first select a 2d pop up for a second  or so the screen goes blank  then re appears.  Didnt revert back to the older version that didnt have this effect as wanted the new ones for battlefied.

Just though I might try this version to see if it gets rid of that problem.

Will probably end up risking it, but any comments may take the stress out of the waiting for the reboot ! :(

Cheers

Steve

Hello Steve,

I am using these drivers with FSX and a GTX 680, only one monitor.

I have had no problems with them, they appear stable. They do not offer

any thing extra for FSX, over all of the other sequential driver releases

that I have installed for the GTX 680.

You might like to try Display Driver Uninstaller for Nvidia cards available from Guru3D.com

I have no issues using this utility, use at your own risk.

Most of us select a fresh custom install from the driver options on the Nvidia driver installer package.

Might help if you had some corrupt files left over from another previous driver install, perhaps!

Charles.

Use the uninstaller suggested above. When you install a new driver, you can select "clean install" which deletes any reminisce of previous driver versions. A clean install also RESETS any profiles you had configured in Nvidia Inspector, so you may want to take that into consideration, otherwise, you'll start FSX and it's all up with jaggies. So make sure you export NI profiles that are important to you and then import them back once you're finished installing the latest drivers.

Yes do a proper uninstall and be prepared to reconfigure nvidia inspector if need be. I am running this driver package and geforce experience 2.x (comes with the driver) with no problem in FSX.

ShadowPlay is recording video very well from FSX running in a window. Haven't gotten it to do full screen yet.

Charles a big thank you for that link.  I did the  clean instal without it.  However I have had another issue that had been irritating me a bit(nvidia tech support could not fix it) in that if I decided to run on just 1 screen, if i viewed any video (u tube/ a dvd etc)  in full screen the colours were all corrupted (bit iof spanned over all 3 screen video playback fine, even though jkust uses the middle screen), anyway I then tried by going to that link and completly cleared out the drivers and video playback all correct now , no corruption .  Thank you very much !!!!!

Still get the screen going black for a second or so when i first select  a 2d pop up (eg the default GPS)  really any Shift + number panel.  It does only happen the first time I call it up and only for about 1 second so will just live with it as perhaps a glitch on my pc.

Driver seems fine for fsx on my very brief test

Thanks once again for your advise , really appreciate it

Regards

Steve

I have the same setup as you (GTX680 w/ three monitors) and experience exactly the same screen blackout with 2D pop-ups as described. Are you still experiencing the same screen blackouts after the Nvidia update? If so, I will likely pass on updating as I'm otherwise satisfied with my current 332 card. Any recommendations you have will be appreciated.

In NI just export the nip file and when you reinstall drivers, import the file. Much easier.

Hi Les

Yes still the same black out, but its sorted out my video playback irritation on a single screen (not that I ever use a single monitor, but I am a bit OCD so like it to work right!!)

In some ways I am relieved you have the same issue, means its not something wrong with my set up.

thanks for your feedback

Anyone have any noticeable changes in VAS, stutters, etc., over perhaps 337.50?

337.88 works fine here. In fact, I never had an issue with any WHQL drivers. I first uninstall the old one using Windows own uninstall tool. Then I make a custom install, tick the box "clean install" and only install the driver, not all the 3D-, experience etc .

Anders

ShadowPlay is recording video very well from FSX running in a window. Haven't gotten it to do full screen yet.

Now that is decidedly odd. I can only record with Shadowplay in FSX at full screen! The option simply isn't available when in Windowed view...

Here is a very quick and dirty video I recorded earlier today using Shadowplay with FSX in full screen view. Best watched at 1080p full-screen. I was actually testing three 'new things' at once:

  • Shadowplay
  • GTN750/650 installed in the C310R's VC
  • Windows Movie Maker (my very first attempt)
