June 18, 201411 yr 727, that's the airports only, not with nyc x? I tried with the city and without. My computer runs through most high end addon airports such as KIAD from FlightBeam like butter, not New York though!
June 18, 201411 yr Anyone tried the airports and/or the city in P3D2? Reason I ask is that default NYC is much less of a framerate sinkhole in P3D2 than is is in FSX (it was unflyable for me in FSX, even with my current rig) so I'm wondering if add-on performance is any better? June 18, 201411 yr FYI - I posted this in another thread: Be advised that the install apparently makes changes to the fsx.cfg w/o a backup (that I see). Modifies mesh, ground shadows, bloom, texture resolution and some traffic settings according to the manual. Not very professional- should at least create a backup, IMHO. Joe Lorenc

Is the city even compliant with Prepar3D 2.x? The website only states FSX and Prepar3D 1.4. Is that how the performance was increased by 130%?
June 18, 201411 yr Is the city even compliant with Prepar3D 2.x? The website only states FSX and Prepar3D 1.4. Ah, good question. The Simmarket page just says "FSX and P3D" but doesn't specify P3D2 compatibility. If it was only designed for 1.4, that might make performance in P3D2 (even) worse... The website makes that clear: http://www.drzewiecki-design.net/products.htm Only for FSX and Prepar3D 1.4, while other products like that airport pack mention Prepar3D 2.x compatibility.
June 18, 201411 yr Alan: As yet unanswered: "Posted: Sun Jun 08, 2014 22:33 Sounds good, thank you for the quick reply. Is there a rought timeframe for the Prepar3d 2.2 compatibility update?" What happened to AVSIM

June 18, 201411 yr I haven't tried the "udpated" DD version in P3D V2.x, but I did try the older version (a few months ago) and I couldn't get any reasonable performance out of it ... I did spend some time on it. But seeing as it was not designed for P3D V2.x, I can't really complain. I did try the product in FSX several months ago when I still used FSX, the performance in FSX DX10 was not good also, about 10 fps worse than P3D (clear weather) and it would OOM in FSX after about 7 minutes. I keep hoping that some day Add-on/Content providers will start to use BC6H and BC7 compression formats for DX11 only ... they are extremely fast when done on GPU (much much faster than DX1-DX5) and visually better. I believe FSDT or was it FlightBeam may have used BC6H and BC7 on their latest releases ... but I can't confirm as I don't use those product because they live under Virtuali umbrella and I don't do Virtuali. So if someone has FSDT or FB latest releases you can probably confirm if BC6H or BC7 was used (in the DDS files) if you have VS 2012 installed. Visual Studio 2012 can open and work with DDS files using BC6H and BC7 directly. So far, I haven't found anyone using anything other than DXT1-5 formats ... I'm guessing this is done because that single format works in both FSX and P3D, where as a DDS with BC6H or BC7 compression will NOT work in FSX ... meaning the 3rd party content provider would need to make two sets of files, one for FSX and one for P3D V2.x -- that's a lot of work so it's understandable a dev may not want to do that much work for a $30 product. As far as I know, all the BC6H and BC7 decompression work is all handled via the GPU (drivers) so no changes in DX11 specific calls are required. But P3D V2.x is relatively new so it's going to take time for development crews to get up to speed with all that P3D has to offer with DX11 ... DD's New York and Airports is probably one of those products that could really use BC6H and/or BC7 to help it with performance and memory usage. Cheers, Rob.
June 18, 201411 yr I don't know what all Flightbeam is doing to optimize, but I can tell you that the performance of their new KDEN is nothing short of stunningly good. Mir seems to have proven that great detail and great performance CAN coexist. And that's in FSX running DX9. Scott
June 18, 201411 yr Has anyone noticed any improvement with their newest patch for this NY scenery? Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471

June 19, 201411 yr Oh same here - this is a worry! Honestly don't waste your money! I see you have a 3770K @ 3.5GHz - if my 4770K at 4.5GHz can't run this scenery addon with a good frame rate unless you like a lot of stuttering don't bother!
