June 8, 201412 yr Very tempted to buy, my Horizon scenery is great but it is 8 years out of date now. Just worried about color correction problems as in other MSE sceneries and I don't think there are night textures? Lawrence Ashworth

June 8, 201412 yr 1m resolution is sufficent at 1500 agl. Own all states and adding european countries now. Liked the product overall as I crank up weather and build my own ga fields with instant scenery. :-)
June 8, 201412 yr Seasons, colour corrected textures, full autogen, 30/60cm resolution sampled from 15cm native imagery, watermasks that's what I need I imagine you can use Night Environment Uk with MSE UK just like you can with GenX.... June 8, 201412 yr After a VERY quick flight, my FIRST statement would be... If you already have Horizon v2, then you will NOT see an improvement. I will post some shots when I can. There also SEEMS to be some water issues. Perhaps connected to wave effects? Guess I have to upload the pics elswhere do I? Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
June 8, 201412 yr That's a little disappointing. Whilst I have nothing against the Playsims/Horizon VFR, it would have been nice to have everything 'in house'. I have the MSE Netherlands, Belgium as well as a growing collection of NA states. I guess the MSE file size is lower than the Playsims version of England and Wales because it doesn't include the vectors, mesh or 3D objects? One thing I've found when overflying the Playsims/Horizon England, specifically in agricultural areas, is that some of the fields look almost hand tinted, often in garish hues of pink and orange. I'd hope the MSE version is better in that regard? As I'm also using UTX Europe, would that correct the vector issues around water bodies and coastlines do you think?
June 8, 201412 yr (...) Guess I have to upload the pics elswhere do I? For example: http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2 Copying the "BBCode" into your post will embed your pic there (IIRC). What happened to AVSIM
June 8, 201412 yr @Neil0311 If anyone has anything informative and constructive to contribute, they should, regardless of whether they own or intend to own any product or not. I'm afraid contributions only from people who own or like a product lead inexorably to fora where ###### rule and all other opinions are derided/deleted. That's not where we should be really is it? MSE works for some and doesn't for others. As long as it isn't personal everyone should feel free to posit their opinions. If you don't like the way someone does that, pull them up on the manner in which they contributed (politely) but please DO NOT attempt to bully/order someone not to post. If you want to moderate posts apply for a mod position Edit: since when did avsim edit Phan-Boise out into hashes? I think the two operative words you used are "informative" and "constructive" and agree with that assessment. Posting the coupon code was just being a jerk for its own sake. I'm not saying that people shouldn't post an opinion, and if that opinion is negative, fine. What I'm saying is don't attack the product when you don't even own it, based on your own suppositions and biases, or in this case because you don't understand the basics of how to manage your email inbox. I'm not sure how "informative" and "constructive" opinions can be if you don't own the product being discussed, but can see how nasty they can be if you have an axe to grind.
June 8, 201412 yr Actually, posting the coupon was quite informative and constructive! Anyway, I've posted my opinion (based on a one to one conversation with the distributor) and I don't own the product either . Andy's opinion, having beta tested such products in the past is of equal validity IMHO. Call him out on it if you disagree by all means, but to say he shouldn't express his opinion because he doesn't have it? that's a bit far for me Cheers K Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS
June 8, 201412 yr So now I get called a jerk for posting a voucher code that anyone can use and that is available on the net if you look. The email doesn't say I cannot share the code, nor does it say that the code is unique to the user, I really don't see what the problem is, if anything they may get more sales because of me posting it. The intention was to give people a chance to save money if they wanted to buy the scenery, it was NOT to get my own back as you called it. I was trying to show that I was not biased one way or the other, I was just trying to inform the OP of my opinions of their products from personal experience as a beta team member in the same field and as a customer of their products. I have as much right to comment as anyone else on this forum and bullies like you neil0311 will not stop me from doing it. And by the way when the email has a method for unsubscribing written at the end of the message telling you how to stop receiving junk mail, you expect it to work. I've written to Robert 6 times now and forwarded those same emails to the MSE's support email address and I still keep getting emails from them. This has been going on now for 6 months and that's how long I have been a customer of theirs. Cheers, Andy.
June 8, 201412 yr Despite what has been said on here I have bit the bullet and bought the scenery and certain areas are great certain areas aren't. Manchester is represented really well and beats Horizon for me, London seems okay but very comparable to Horizon. My main complaint is the waterclass around the coasts is very poor, Blackpool for example has default scenery bleeding through where there should just be water/sand.. For £18 with the discount it's not bad value and comparing it to Horizon I have to say to me it looks similar. Horizon is the more polished product obviously and comes with night textures and seasons, it does cost however over £70 for the collection.. Lawrence Ashworth
June 8, 201412 yr As I'm also using UTX Europe, would that correct the vector issues around water bodies and coastlines do you think? No. That will not take care of any of the water issues you see with MSE or any photo real scenery that doesn't take care of them themselves. Photo real overlays anything else. So, just because the correct vector data is there, you're still just going to see the "picture" laid over the top and essentially the vector data for the coast is useless. The biggest value for UTX with photo real is that you still get road traffic on the photo roads and you still will see night lighting too as the UTX lights will appear over photo real. It sounds to me then overall that if we have Horizon, we should probably just stay with Horizon then from what I'm getting here. Is that correct? Obviously Horizon too has the night lighting as well which is an advantage. But, overall it's sounding like the quality is the same. June 8, 201412 yr Horizons night lighting is awful. No 3D lights and horrible ground lighting which shows congested roads at night down every little lane (and railway incidentally) If you are looking for more realistic night lighting the best I've seen is Night Environment UK through Aerosoft.... That is a very good point too...Horizon night lighting is pretty bad in that regard. They just looked for everything that was a road-like color and put lights on it. Too much too. It does look like rush hour everywhere. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
