PSS Concorde Flying Tips

Hey Everyone. During RTW '05, a number of players decided to tackle this unique airliner for the South Pacific Corridor, and some difficulty was encountered on her flying characteristics. For those who may elect to pick up this outstanding add on, I will be posting some tips that I have found to be successful for handflying this beast over the next week. For fledgling Concorde pilots, I hope this helps to smooth out the learning curve.Best Regards,

I know! I said that this thread was supposed to provide insight and tips on flying the Concorde. However, the discussion of how to start the engines was fairly common, so I decided to start here.The following procedure does not reflect real-life start procedures on the Concorde; instead, it is meant to help you get those four Rolls Royce Olympus engines turning and burning for your flying pleasure. I must stress that in order to avoid those annoying warning alarms and indicators, you must use the Virtual Flight Engineer (VFE) setting on the main instrument panel. PSS made one thing sure, and that is that the buyer gets to appreciate the complex systems and procedures of the Concorde. If anything, this is thrown right into your face from moment one. Ctrl + E does not work here; those engines will remain dead no matter how many times you hit that key combination. Instead, PSS has decided that the virtual airman must have a rudimentary understanding of the actual start procedure, and what systems and controls are involved in it. Notwithstanding the excellent tutorial provided by them, this abbreviated process will work just as well. To start the engines, get familiar with the following controls on the four subpanels.Flight Engineer Panelhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/108203.jpg1. Electrical Generating Control Subpanela. HP Valve SwitchesTo get the engines started, the PSS Concorde, as with the real life version, needs to be connected to an external power/pneumatic source - there is no APU to provide the bleed air required to spin up the turbines or to supply the juice needed to power the avionics.And speaking of avionics, remember this one tip

Alex This looks like a really good idea - perhaps you could also collate everything into a DOC file ( when you have finished everything_)and upload it to the LibraryBarry
