"Microsoft Sells License to FS Franchise" Part 2

Why the hell would LM care about the gaming market?

Because some people are blinkered and cannot think outside of their flightsim/gaming box. To some, everything is about flying their desks :)

I don't think they would have included a Constellation in the aircraft mix otherwise.

This part I don't follow? The Constellation is a Lockheed product, so it's only natural they may include it in P3D. If anything for promotional value!!

Thanks

If it is Dovetail games that's behind this I would welcome it. They're a very communicative and active company, and if the target does turn out to be Microsoft Flight, the back and forth between them and the community will probably be night and day compared to the secret squirrel practices of Microsoft.

Doesn't mean they will necessarily go fully in the direction the community likes, because I believe there's a real bias among some "serious" simmers towards things that deliberately exclude "The Masses" and that's a direct opposite of DTG's previous culture.

But at least they will probably be more than willing to engage the community constructively if we behave maturely............

Who would need it for training purposes? It's value would be "entertainment".

I was surprised how many folks were horrified it might be Dovetail. I love their RR products, and hope they can expand their thinking to encompass flight sims. I hope that their target audience will be wide enough to allow the masses and the hard-core guys to co-exist.

It must be WalMart!

Or Nestle

However, I do think State Grid Corporation Of China Flight Simulator 2015 has a certain ring to it.

Oh wow ... and that thread was only just closed by the developer ....

I love a good conspiracy theory!!

Danny Hicks

He's talking about a simulator not especially about a Flightsimulator ^_^

Until now everything is based on rumours, rumours and rumours

if it were an FSX or in the flight sim business developer, we would all know by now,

we know from the original news that he outbid others, the others being a group of FSX developers, if you have a group of developers, this means that the bid was less than $10m, which gives something like $10-30m as the price paid, although I heard that MS asked an stratospheric sum for the franchise a few years ago, much more that $30m.

The owner bough an outdated code, meaning he will need to set up a team in order to bring it up to something like were P3D is, that rules out some Sheik from Arabia who could not care less for software development.

The best bet is someone connected to the Aviation business and familiar with code development in order to be able to make his investment worthy.

Aerosoft News still hasn't published anything on the topic for days now...

Maybe they are under an NDA, working in partnership, or lost on a bid.

the mention of "on the hoizon" makes it pretty clear right - obvious indication it must be a flight simulator!! Besides Martin is probably an alias for Martian .... so that should be "everything is based on rumours, rumours, conspiracy theories and rumours."

EDIT: just adding a :P to ensure people don't think I'm being completely serious ... or is that just what I want you to believe??

Got moved is all... http://steamcommunity.com/app/24010/discussions/10/540744299757425354/#p5   hmm..now its locked and gone again.

One more speculation. Perhaps the company's new name "Dovetail" might ring bell? A dovetail with two tips and a common origin ... just a crazy idea.

Kind regards, Michael

This might be utterly naive, but if the company in question wanted to create a flight sim game, why not, like X-Plane, just start from scratch and call it what they like. These development costs would surely be cheaper than spending ~$30 million on the fanchise license and engine etc... ?

It's going to be the rebirth of MS FLIGHT.

I Like flying GA planes, that I am fine with but I like GOOD GA planes.  Offer the A2A 172 and PA-180 on this new rebirth of FLIGHT and I will buy it.   Offer crappy fly from the outside default style planes and NOBODY will buy it like what happened with MS FLIGHT
