Dillon, quit playing the martryr.  Avsim had the vote for a while.  Now it's gone.  Quit lecturing people on the "realities of life" and whatever, and just deal with it.  There was no conspiracy.  A small minority of people abused voting the system because they were being d bags, not because it was part of a devious plan, and Tom decided it wasn't worth the hard feelings across the board, all things considered.  Why are you so invested in the ability to click a button to rate someone's two cents on any given issue?  Is your Avsim experience greatly diminished because you can't pi$$ somebody off with a simple click of  "Dislike"?  Afterall, this is a forum, where people discuss things.

Are you saying that you weren't asked to provide Tom with a risk assessment and method statement before being allowed to post on the forum? I thought that documents of this sort were mandatory these days for anything done after waking up in a morning.

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. 

 

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. 

 

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. 

 

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. 

 

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. 

 

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. 

 

Common Sense was preceded in death, 

-by his parents, Truth and Trust, 

-by his wife, Discretion, 

-by his daughter, Responsibility, 

-and by his son, Reason. 

 

He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers; 

- I Know My Rights 

- I Want It Now 

- Someone Else Is To Blame 

- I'm A Victim 

- Pay me for Doing Nothing 

 

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Yes I did. He had been warned before. If a member is going to be a "poison dwarf", as the saying goes, then they cannot expect to get away with it for long. If someone has something to say to us about our management of our forums, spit it out and be an adult about it. But, before that member does, they better make sure that they have thoroughly read and understand our terms of use. 

 

And finally, to Dillon... there was no conspiracy, not twisting of our arms, or other nefarious things done related to me closing the rating system. You should have just sent me a PM asking me why... It really is simple. I got tired of the childish behavior of some and their abuse of it. We suspended more than a couple of people for doing exactly that. Upon suspending one last individual, I just got tired of it and the BS that came with it. We have more important things to do than babysit. 

 

And with that, I am now closing this topic.
