X-Plane Hangs on Loading Unless Preferences are Reset

Hi,

I've just reinstalled X-Plane 10 as I've been having issues lately, but now after reinstalling and updating to 10.30b5 the sim won't work properly. The first time I loaded the stock sim it loaded and placed me at the KSEA demo area in the Avanti (as expected). However, if I close the sim and reload it, it hangs on "Will init world" every time after that. The only way I have found to rectify this is to delete the contents of the Output/preferences folder and this is not practical as it will mean I have to enter all my joystick/key commands and rendering settings every time I load the sim! I have now installed all of my Aircraft, Custom Scenery and Plugins but the same thing happens.
I have added my Log.txt in a spoiler and my specs are on my profile.

Hi, try running the updater from within your Xplane folder, when it finishes it gives you the option of running Xplane immediately. That seems to reset something somehow.

 

Worked for me. On Win 8 it would always hang on startup. After this "tweak" no more problems (so far).

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately it doesn't seem to do anything for me. I should probably have added that I am using Windows 7 64 bit. I just don't see how this could happen to a fresh install of X-Plane, could something have gotten corrupt during the install?

Did you use the installer that came with the cd's to do a fresh install or did you download the one on their web? There is an issue with the one that came with the cd's.

 

Download installer/updater from here and redo update:

Did you use the installer that came with the cd's to do a fresh install or did you download the one on their web? There is an issue with the one that came with the cd's.

 

Download installer/updater from here and redo update:

 

http://www.x-plane.com/downloads/x-plane_10_installer-updater/

Ahh, that's probably it, I did use the CD installer. I'll try installing a second copy using the downloadable installer.

If everything was ok until you installed the beta, you might try using the installer without checking the beta option and it will revert back to 10.25.  Then, you can try the beta again and see if it works this time. 

 

Easiest way I can think of without complete reinstallation.

Problem solved! I reinstalled using the downloadable installer rather than the one included on the discs (as suggested by Carlos) and it seems to have worked.
