$1700 budget, looking for suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

I've been using my i7 950 and GTX 570 for 3 years now but it's time to get a new PC as right now I doesn't fulfill my needs. I have used "PC part picker" and came up with this rig:

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Devinci/saved/tNYQzy

CPU Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core $319.99

CPU Cooler Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid $89.99

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H ATX LGA1150 $154.98

Memory Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 $144.99

Storage Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" SSD $259.19

Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB WINDFORCE $379.99

Case NZXT Phantom (White) ATX Full Tower $104.99

Power Supply EVGA 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V $139.99

Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) $89.98

Total:  $1684.09

I'm just looking for some last minute suggestions before I make the purchase. Also I do a lot of 3D modeling and video editing and gaming so do you think the GPU I have will do?

Thanks

Best Regards

4790k and z97. PSU is overkill unless you plan to run SLI.

Great board

I love my 4790k. It was a pleasant surprise how much better it performs.

Yeah, I plan to another GPU later on. I see a very cheap 4790K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117369&cm_re=4790k-_-19-117-369-_-Product

I should get this one!

Select Windows 7 - 64 if you can.

Unless you have some good reason to want Windows 8 - most of us FSX users are sticking with Windows 7..

I also wanted windows 7 but a friend showed me a software I can use to have windows 8 look very much look like it, with the start button, desktop icons, etc

Already doing that, last time I checked my logbook had 55 hours and cross-country solo flight completed, then... $$$, blablabla!

Real world? Wouldn't we all like to.  Around me, thats 12k. If you're persistent.

There is none around here. I would hope my GPU to cost less than $300 though. But the most important thing for FSX seems to be the CPU. I wanted to get a 6 core cpu but it's too expensive right now.

Got W7/bunch of add ons/Smooth FSX/rock solid stable. For me, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

If I have to do another clean install, it will be on W7.

Some people said they had better performance when Windows 8 first came out I don't know if that's still the case?

A 6 core CPU will do nothing for FSX..

Don't go for Windows 8. The Joystick issue is terrible!!

Also, I recommend going with the Asus Maximus one user posted. It's really worth investing your money on the best MB. It's the item that usually gives you problem after three years of usage, when you can't find a replacement for your processor :/ Don't ask me how I know that...

That asus is a killer, really worth it!

Again, FSUIPC takes care of of that.
