Photoreal simmers who had sharpness issues...

Recommended Posts

Dang, I had  things workin' pretty darn good with my photoreal scenery. But I just put in a new Geforce 780 6GB so that meant new drivers (337.88), and somehow my hi-res .15cm now looks blurry.  Maybe it was doing it before I added the card but can't exactly remember.  It's not an issue of distance blurryness.   It's not an issue of waiting for it to sharpen up... it won't.  It's just not literally sharpening up to its full potential like it used to.

So let me throw this out there if someone in P3D v2.2 is real happy with their photoreal settings, drivers, Nvifdia settings and what not and care to brag about them I sure would like to hear from ya!  As I can't remember how I fixed this in the past.

mucho thx,

Did you delete your shader folder and let it rebuild - when you replace a video card you need to do this

Yep, sure did.  Even compiled a new Prepared.cfg to she what she would do.  Nothin'.  Are you getting crisp, clean textures around the aircraft Richard?  If so... what you NI settings?  I read a few had this issue in the LM or Orbx forums but not sure if that's just urban legend cause I had this working good before in P3D.

I enjoy photoscenery in P3DV2 too. I use the NVidia driver 337.88. My NI settings for P3D are a bit different from FSX in that I use the P3D settings for AA/FXAA etc., rather than NI. My NI settings are the default as determined by NVidia techs for P3D. Again, zooming out to about 40% in wingview and spot view is the best for this scenery and speeds up rendering. You will see very little blurries by doing this and I think it is more realistic.

not sure if this works under P3D

you could try changing "FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION"= 0.10 <> 1.0

Thx Chris... I was just reading up on all the tweaks/issues/techniques on various forums.  LM forums states that FFTF really has no effect on v2.2.  It's funny as you start questioning yourself as to "was it really that sharp before or was it just me thinking they were that sharp".  Pretty sure it was.  So I am gonna take out the 780, throw back in the 670 with the 306 drivers and see if there is any difference.

A higher fiber rate time fraction does work well.  1.0 is a good setting and I've had good results up to 1.5.

The problem is that you will get sharper scenery graphics at the expense of some performance in other areas., the higher you go.

It's worth trying a few settings and settling on which is the best compromise for you and your system, e.g. 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0.
