Apology for my Austin/XPX comments.

Recommended Posts

Wow, came back and read a thread I posted in and realized I needed to address what I wrote. It got so heated I was locked out before I could put out the fire.

First off to the XPX users offended, I'd like to apologize as we all love our Sim of choice. With so much going on in our community it's easy to get carried away. I read the interview posted above my post and lost it with everything that I see companies doing when it comes to the hobby we love. Whether it's Microsoft dropping the whole series, FS11 canned/turned into Flight, DT taking FSX that may not be more than a GUI change for Steam. Basically in a nut shell companies are in an identity crisis in how to deal with Flight Simulation and profit from it at the same time yet it's lasted for 20+ years with add-on developers doing pretty good with it. It's not rocket science and MS has done amazing work over the years. XPX looks amazing and I hope what that interview said about Austin was false because we need publishers, developers, and creators to have a little passion about what they have on their hands versus a ho-hum attitude about it. I've worked with develops like that over the years and the product never comes out as good as it could have been, case in point FLIGHT. Our hobby has produced so many real world pilots if that means anything. So with that I apologize for putting something out there without thinking.

Food for thought:

Flight sims, or anything requiring actual effort and thinking, only give back as much as you're willing to put in...

There's so much other junk-food content out there that it's not that surprising that something intellectually challenging has fallen out of fashion.
