Which PC system vendors for flight sims?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm helping a friend spec out a pc suitable for running fsx, although they might explore prepar3d or xplane down the line. They do NOT want to build it themselves.

Are there any good vendors anybody has experience in? The only one I've heard of so far is http://www.originpc.com/

Any ideas on what specs to go with? I'm totally out of touch with the best cpu/graphics cards.

ram - i'm assuming at least 8 - maybe 16 makes a difference if xplane?

Thanks for any help.

If he's going to also use XP and P3D he'll want a powerful video card with VRAM and lots of system RAM. The new XP patch will require 16GB to run higher LOD and 32 is preferred. I'd look at a gtx 770 4GB or 780 6GB card.

Any decent new CPU will work - make sure it's a K on the end though like 4570K

I had an excellent experience with CyberpowerPC  http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

I7----K and GTX780 6GB as already mentioned. SSD for sure.

You will get a good look at the options for all their gaming PC's - it will be an education!

Good luck.

This is excellent advice...it permits overclocking.
