Modifieng the CRUISING ALT sounds----------》like a real (it should mosly WINDs sound)

Recommended Posts

Sorry, i'm not owning the NGX yet.

search for the "sound.cfg" file of the NGX open it and in there you should find a "Wind" or "Windsound" (or whatever) section.

Then you can edit those parameters.

But if i'm right, not all of those 3rd party addons use the classical sound.cfg file.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Hi again tom, and sorry for the prolongation.

To be honest, I do that for the PMDG747, open the sound.cfg and searching for the WIND section and change the MAX SPEED AND MIN SPEED 240kts to 290kts, and the WIND sound starts at these speeds (240kts------>reaches the maximum volumes at 290kts) okay and nice.

In this week a try to do the same adjustments to the PMDG NGX but its a different story after I opened the sound cfg.

I dont found the same entries wich found in the PMDG747 ( MAX SPEED AND MIN SPEED ) in the WIND section.

I found like a parameters !!!!

Also in the NGX there is a six WIND sounds files, I found the WIND2 & WIND3 (WIND3 wich I actually copy it into the PMDG747 to use with) ones is the most realistic than the WIND1 (wich I think the NGX use as a default cockpit WIND sound).

So I choose the WIND3 to test, ------》changing its name to WIND1 as thinking that the NGX will play, but no luck !!!!!

You will not be able to reproduce this 100%, The reason the engine sounds fade is because the air density decreases as you climb.

This is 'Not' possible to simulate in FSX

As I previously mentioned, you can simulate this in FS9 on a basic level through the sound.cfg.  My method was to adjust how the wind volume increases depending on the Aircraft's speed & create custom wind sound files.

 do it, i copy these lines from the sound of any TSS sound set

[WIND_SOUND]

filename=WIND

flags=0

viewpoint=1

minimum_speed=220.00

maximum_speed=290.00

minimum_volume=2765

maximum_volume=10000

minimum_rate=0.92

maximum_rate=1.00

and i deleted the first section of the WIND sound inside NGX sound.cfg wich is

[wind_sound.1.00]

filename=PMDG737NGX_WIND2

viewpoint=1

rparams=100.0000,0.800000,350.0000,1.10000

vparams=0.000000,0.000000,50.000000,0.000000,110.000000,0.000000,180.000000,7.000000,220.000000,17.000000,270.000000,38.000000,340.000000,52.000000,500.000000,70.000000

link=wind_sound.1.02

and i choose the WIND3 sound (i prefer) then i renamed it to be the same in the wind section wich in my case it called WIND in my case  (filename=WIND).

and the wind sound wich i need start to operate will inside the cockpit.

note: i can make it play at specific speeds, just see above.
