Yep same thing here cockpit freezes during decent only since installing SP1 hope they look at it soon.

Is there any update on the freezing panels issue? I've just had this happen on a flight with the 772, during descent (at around 12'000 ft) the PFD *and* the standby instrument froze up completely, so I lost all speed and altitude information. The nav MFD still worked, so I was able to complete the flight (and it made for an interesting challenge!) but I don't really want to repeat the experience.

 

Could this just be a symptom of an impending OOM? I've never been plagued by OOMs fortunately so I'm not sure what to look for.

 

This was in P3D 2.4, by the way.

You can either use FSUIPC to provide VAS remaining or Process Explorer to provide VAS used. Both are explained in the Introduction.

 

Yes, low VAS can cause any number of problems including gauges not working.  You jumped on an Oct 2014 thread asking for an update to a problem that was probably resolved but I'm not going to read through the entire thread to try to understand your problem. A brief explanation of your problem will go a long way to getting a solution.

Thanks for your reply Dan. The original problem in this thread (which is identical to mine) has apparently not been resolved, or at least none of those who have reported it have posted a solution here. That's why I "jumped" this thread, as you put it.

 

I've just made another flight with the 772 (different route than before) and the same problem occured again. Up until the approach phase everything was perfectly fine. During the final approach, at around 3000 ft, I noticed that the PFD was frozen completely. The same for the center MFDs. The nav display was still working.

 

However, unlike in the last flight, I could not disengage the AP, as the buttons on the MCP did not respond to any inputs (I could not change the AP mode, heading, or altitude). The A/T switches however worked and I could disengage those, also I did have manual throttle control. Otherwise the aircraft was "dead" and did not respond to any control inputs. A few seconds later the 777 rolled to the left, then pitched up until it stalled and then crashed (a truly frightening scenario!).

 

The PMDG menu in the FMC did not list any failures, so I have to assume that this is indeed a bug and not some sort of systems failure. In addition, FSUIPC reported about 320 MB of free VAS, so I'm guessing that it isn't related to an OOM problem (please correct me if this assumption is wrong).

All of this was in P3D 2.4.

 

If anyone has any inputs on this issue I'd be glad if you could share them.

Edit: I think I misinterpreted the FSUIPC report - it doesn't show remaining memory but the used one, is that correct? In which case it would have been 3.2 GB of VAS. But that would still not point to a memory issue I think?
