300Er Performance Planning Gizmos

Recommended Posts

Hello,

SP1 and the edition of the new 300ER variant have reignited my enthusiasm for the T7 range - Great job PMDG!

I generally use Aivliasoft's excellent EFB for route planing and Topcat for performance planning, but Topcat has no profile for the 300ER and having followed their support forum, I'm not confident that this is going to change any time soon, and owing to the complicated nature of the beast, I'm clearly not able to create my own!

Are there any other options out there? Of course, I can just go with guesswork regarding fuel and cargo weights/fuel/takeoff performance etc but much of the fun comes from a proper preflight planning session (for me anyway)!

Best wishes,

Luke

I found using the 777-200F profile for the -300ER yielded results very close to what the manuals say.

The 200 and 300 are very different aircraft with different power plants and performance data. The results may similar to some degree but they are not correct!

They actually are very similar aircraft and use the same engine, albeit on the -200LR \ F MOST operators chose the 110,000lb reduced thrust 110B1 option. (you can upgrade by changing the rating plug - hardly a different power plant)

The MTOW is within a few tons. The bigger factor affecting rotation speed is the longer body and thus reduced tail clearance resulting in higher V-Speeds. There is no current topcat performance data - so what would you suggest? I didn't say it was RIGHT only that its is AS CLOSE AS WE CAN GET at this time. I still use the 77W provided FMC V speeds, but use topcat FREIGHTER module for derates.

What I mean is - given your two sources of data, being either A - No data or B - 200F data, which would be more accurate? if you HAD to choose?

I was just trying to help.

If your looking for the proper 77W topcat module, come back in a few years at the rate the -200 took them.

Yes, like Wes, I am using the 77F for de rates. That or nothing. Airline2sim have a de rate tool on the burner, but not sure if it is for a 200 or 300.

Yeah it work doesn't it!

In addition, on all my 77W flights so far the PFPX -300ER profile tweaked to match PMDG weights and numbers, coupled with the topcat 77F profile, have yielded fuel burn numbers within 800KG - yes that's 0.8 ton - over a 12 hour flight. Many real world flights come in at less or more than that. (Yes, I actually do record fuel burn and other parameters as would a real flight.)

Yes absolutely . I have had close to the numbers quite consistently.

Hi Wes, would you mind sharing your tweaked PFPX profile for the 300ER?

Thank you!

Thanks Wes. Your help is appreciated! I'll roll with the 200 profile for the time being :-)
