I would say 4770K - but right now, most would go to a 4790K..

The single most important question is:  What speed will you be able to overclock the CPU to?

I had my i7-4790K to 5GHz, seemed steady, but it worried me, so:

I rolled her back to 4.8 for constant use.

Use 4.7G now cause I want HT, using last 3(6 threads) cores only, leaving the first for the accessories.

I was lucky, a lot of other overclocks could only get to 4.5, or less even. Very few reported better than 4.7G@24/7.

My perceived big benefit is that at Heathrow, I can have 50% AI and watch the big jets roll around without any stutter, and they turn corners without that jerk dance.

P3DV2.2 with way too many ad-dons.

Using all 8 threads now, and its smoother and steadier at a locked fps.

You might see up to 5 fps difference between them I'd think. Assuming a reasonable overclock from both, 4.4-4.6ghz range.
