Throwing in the towel....

I know how he feels.....

My first flight sim worked very well with my very small computer, Then when I bought and installed FSX, my whole system went into the toilet...(figuratively speaking) I suffered CRASH after CRASH after CRASH......I was ready to give up and reinstall FS9 and just stay with that.

Then I met a very kind soul here at AVSIM, who helped me work out all the bugs.....Through PM's and emails we got everything to work right and give a nice looks in sim.

Now I have a much Bigger computer to fly on and have had no problems once so ever.....

I know it can get extremely Frustrating when you expect something to make it better, and you end up with even worse then before.....

Keep plugging away at it, you'll get it fixed.

I can't get Accu-Sim to work though....it's in the xml.dll file.. and in the MODULE folder, but I have no FIUSPC...does it need it? Is there a working FIUSPC file?

Thanks, Rich.   BTW...all my virtual cockpits in my carenado planes...are broken...missing and transparent textures...nothing ever like this when having ported them over from FSX to v2.2.  This is bad....  BTW...have you gotten Accu-Feel to show up in the add on menu?  It ran in v2.2...but am having trouble with 2.3.   I am finding many things are broken...especially my aircraft. If I can't get this sorted out...v2.3 is a bust for me....will have to go back to a working and stable v2.2

Mitch did you do a clean install not a patch - I just did my uninstall and backed up everything and how to reinstall it all documented - dont use the patch method its not ideal - going to install it now after reboot - heres is the line of text to get accu-feel in the drop down menu it goes in youe dll.xml file use note pad to edit it - if you do not feel comfortable doinf it I can do it for you - i will check carenado aircraft when I get it installed fresh

Yes, Rich, I did a full and clean install...as per Rob.  All my virtual cockpits in my Carenado planes are broken. Missing side wall textures, non-functiong panels.  Also, with the above in my dll.xml file, I have no add-on menu...but, if I remove those for accu-feel...I then get back my menu, with my GSX ground support working.  Well...I wonder if it is the Shaders...are not compatible with FSX port over aircraft files.   On another topic...this sim is amazingly smooth as glass. I took off the association with Inspector...and as others have stated, you no longer need anything outboard of the sim.  Very nice....and the night environment is leaps ahead of anything yet in this franchise.  I have all my ORBX stuff working...but need to figure out what is going on with my planes...and accu-feel.  Thanks

Hi Mitch do not port over aircraft thats the problem - get them out of there and install the p3d versions - you can get them from where you purchased them to begin with - if you dont want to do that you can fire up estonia and do thet but dont just cut and paste them if thats what you did - just installed 2.3 going to fire it up now I will load a carenado and let you know - you have to do this in baby steps - you mentioned you have gsx installed I would install all of the basics first before doing that - get back to yah - off to start it up

It sounds like Mitch is softening a bit, phew.

Looking forward to next week's "sim nirvana" thread Mitch

LOL....the sim is DROP DEAD, smooth. No further need of out-side programs of any kind.

The good news:  GSX Ground Services working.  Accu-Feel, working.   I tried porting over planes (my beloved 377), but could not get them to run properly in v2.3   I'll have to get the actual P3D versions downloaded as Rich suggested.

Night operations...is simply wonderful.   The sky is now the right color....visuals are bright and clear.  Night approaches are top notch,   LM has done an amazing update in sheer performance.  There are NO, stutters....smooth as glass..and at full out.....everything pretty much max'ed....I am popping along at 30 FPS in Unlimited.   Very pleased with the performance and look of all my ORBX (which loaded in no problem...I have all my triple airports, and regions cooking away.)  scenery and Caribbean Goodies.  All in all...after a PITA 20 hours of fiddling around, I have a stable and wonderful v2.3 P3D.   I only now need to purge my SimObjects/Airplanes of all ported FSX planes...and bring in the true P3D Carenado versions.

So...is this a winner?  Yes...but WAY TOO HARD to get there...the patch should have worked...but DID NOT.   20 hours to date, devoted to install, re-install, crash, install, crash, remove, no crash, install.....holding my breath.....no crash....-----------------------------------------20 hours later.  Stable....with what I want to run .

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yah but you learned a lot more buddy - well done - I am not finding night very good looking might have to look into my monitor settings way to dark

I was being lazy and hopeful........tried to port over all my FSX planes...got away with that in v2.2...but not going to happen with v2.3   I just installed the proper P3D installer for the C90 and my C377.  I have a PLANE!!!!!!   It looks like a plane...RUNS, like a plane...and has all the PARTS where they should be....   HAPPY CAMPER!   The night sky is just perfect, Rich...and the best I have seen in ANY SIM...even XPX.  The color temperature of the sky is perfect.  The VECTOR lights are blazing...and I am one H*ll of a happy camper now.  It took 20 hours...in my case...pffling here and there..trying this...loading that....but as you said...I could probably help anybody to get something right, LOLOLOLOL.   I went through the fire....

Now...to  coffee up...and enjoy the best edition of the P3D franchise yet.....oh...did I mention SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH?  No?!?  Well...folks...you can put away ANY tweaks....any out-side influence.  Ya don't need it.....P3D v2.3 cooks all by itself!!!!!   No stutter, unless you have a cloud being rendered almost kissing the fuselage,  but for only a few seconds...and then back to ice, glass, teflon.....  Good night folks...I've sweated blood to get this thing to work...and now am going to spend the next few hours ENJOYING IT!

Post edit:  "I mean it...for the first time in years..you do NOT add a single thing....to the file. NOTHING!   You delete the .cfg file off of your desktop..and just fire up the sim and fly....at 30-55 FPS at any given time.  Long live the King (v2.3)...the TWEAK is DEAD!

Post edit 2:  "I officially rename this thread to "needed a towel to wipe the sweat of installation off...but now it's in the laundry...and we BE FLYIN' !"

Post Edit 3:  Final thought to put out there.  All your ORBX will install and run.  Airports, (for P3D 2.x of course), Regions, freebies...all of it.  I just took off in my beloved C377 SkyMaster Turbo....out of Colorado Springs....and this version of P3D...floats you through the air. Congrat's to the programmers, and to the hard work (ROB...) of all the BETA Testers.  The release candidate is awesome....once...you get it installed.....LOL!

Edit 4:  Cloud shadows are now fully formed, and no longer have a square rendering.  I guess that I have the sim set up for full performance, and the shaders have settled in.  Good night, all.....

I was being lazy and hopeful........

Glad to hear the good news my friend - yes its awesome built I am getting 75 to 90 fps - sorry about that - got to luv the Titan - yes tweaking over I have a little jaggie on a careandao aircraft the only one I have loaded as its time to get to bed but I am going to try a real mellow NI to clean it up - I noticed with my monitor it really like NI - also noticed after loading rex4 and global my fps went up from about 65 to the 75-90 - how cool is that keep us posted on your progress - very cool thing not having to tweak the living !@#% out of it - anyone debating going to P3D  I suggest you hit the uninstall FSX button as its a joke compared to this - LM really did one heck of a job

Oh did I mention P3D starts up in seconds not minutes like ah (FSX)

Oh I'm sorry 151 fps more I run it the better it gets - just crazy

You may not have to.  While I haven't done this myself, I've seen references to software (probably comes with the new SSD) that will do a migration of data from the old SSD for you.  I have no idea how this works, or even if it does.  I don't think I have any extra SATA plugs, for example.  I'm going to limp along on 33 gig free currently until I replace this computer.

Hook

I would use my DVD SATA slot to temporarily do that transfer+connection etc...then after all done, DVD SATA cord goes back

would require 2 reboots. or more depending on the procedure for the SSD, all of which is available on the manufacturers site usually

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your reply, On the strength of the more positive results I am now reading I will pull the trigger this weekend. Can I ask where is the best place to install, I have a 240gb Main C drive SSDGB with the OS on a SSD 80GB with FSX on and a spare SSD 80GB with nothing on advice please.

Also I just want to install my favourite things Orbx World..yet to get LC Europe, Aerosoft Airports, UT2 this is a must Opus or and ASN I have both and of course the AEX again a must I only do tubes!

I take it I need some tool called Estonia? is that correct and finally will a I7 2600 @4.5 and a GTX 770 4g run this ok.... please be honest if not well....I stay where I am..

Thank you all
