October 4, 201411 yr No, Hardware isn't the problem. 64bit will solve all of our problems! The bottleneck is caused by not enough memory! Approaching anything smooth in 32bit is impossible. LM is making a mistake.</snark> It used to be said in a few threads about that OC was essential for FSX, above 4.5. I see the same thing with P3D, above 4.6, which requires winning the CPU lottery. I can see a difference when I run at 4.8, which I dare for a short time, over 4.6. The bottlenecks clear. Seems to support the core 1 thread manager theory. Although there are means to move more of the event handling to other threads, the payoff is probably not worth it for LM; many are happy with the stars aligned as they are. The next "clock tick" at Intel (is that what they call their plan, or is that NVidia?) will be the answer, still about a year or so out. October 4, 201411 yr With tesselation inactivated, I see a clear improvment from 4 Ghz to 5 Ghz with my CPU. With tesselation activated, I don't see any improvment over 4 Ghz (to 5 Ghz) with my CPU and 2.4 Ghz with my Ram. But improvment appears only after upgrading from a GTX 680 to a GTX 780 Ti and to a SLI. I don't think there's a bottle neck. I think that the part of the CPU's work is waiting the parts of the Video card's work. i9 14900KF 64 Gb DDR5 @ 6 Ghz CAS 32 Asus Apex Z790 W11 64 bits pro sur Kingston FURY Renegade 2 To, MSFS 2024 sur 2 ème Kingston FURY Renegade 2 To, RTX 5090 Alim Asus Thor 1600 W Gold Ecran Samsung G9 57 pouces 8K WC AIO ARTIC liquid freezer II 420 Boitier Gigabyte 3d mars https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEFAk464aSg22aGFZ2LxeFg/videos

October 4, 201411 yr That's the thread manager maxing out. I guess that's what I mean by CPU at 100%. November 8, 201411 yr I'm using 2 GTX 780TI SLI card and the FPS reach 35% more on my 4K monitor vs my old Full Hd one (but 120 hz) What i did with my old x58 - I920 (Overclock to 4gz after installation) - 2 SSD intel SATA II - Soundblaster Reco 3D - 1000w Quiet 1) Plug your cards but Uninstall your graphic drivers first with safe mode or by choosing vga standard card. Option: use registry cleaner to delete all Nvidia entries 2) Choose the physicX option to GPU (not automatic, never) after lastest Nvidia drivers installation as Administrator 3) Don't overclock your CPU during those phases 4) Clean all Prepar3d V2 profile file after backuping it 5) Let the Prepar3d choosing the default option 6) Follow this tips http://www.nvidia.in/object/slizone-appprofile-in.html 7) Recalculate the Mask and let 3 virtuals processor core free 8) Start the Prepar3d V2.4 once and check the fps 9) Restore the config line (Addons) one by one and check which one is lack of preformance with SLI On my conf, the only heavy trouble i had was related to: - Ultimate Traffic 2 - Rex Essential - FSX scenery like Roissy LFPG, EGLL and so KLAX, KJFK high definition because is not fully Directx compatible or the CPU is too low ! Hope it will help Fervex PS: Sorry for my english, i'm french. Nobody's perfect.

November 11, 201411 yr Agree, currently value/performance is just NOT there. But still hoping nVidia/LM will come up with something. Cheers, Rob. how we are sure that SLI doesn't work because of NVIDIA? take Laminar research Xplane for example: "the simulator’s speed is limited by the geometry going across the bus, not the fill rate. So, in that case, SLI and Crossfire are useless-"
November 11, 201411 yr take Laminar research Xplane for example: "the simulator’s speed is limited by the geometry going across the bus, not the fill rate. So, in that case, SLI and Crossfire are useless-" I haven't tested XP10 bus load, but I know P3D bus load is relatively low (rarely gets above 30%) even in the most demanding situations ... the CPU and GPU however can hit 100% util (main thread for CPU) with SGSS AA and the right location and weather. Perhaps you can get some clarification on what is actually meant by "geometry going across the bus"? You can see the bus load in this video I made some time ago when doing v2.3 beta testing (view at 1440p full screen to see the values): As you can see, there is no Bus saturation issue in P3D v2.x. Heck even SLI AA isn't working for P3D v2.x (I have tried) ... usually SLI AA is a fall back when nVidia can't get something to fully utilize multiple GPUs ... but sadly no profile support for that either. Cheers, Rob.
November 12, 201411 yr Yeah, thanks Rob. Xplane is much different then P3D, it doesn't utilize CPU so much, it never goes to maximum. Overclocked or not, it gives the same result for me. Only graphic card affects the performance, and SLI is not working there. But at least every next generation card improves the performance I don't understand why Nvidia doesn't have profile. There are tons of useless profiles there, for games which run on average card with 200 fps anyway, who needs SLI there?
November 12, 201411 yr I don't understand why Nvidia doesn't have profile. There are tons of useless profiles there, for games which run on average card with 200 fps anyway, who needs SLI there? Agree, send nVidia feedback. Cheers, Rob.
November 16, 201411 yr Agree, send nVidia feedback. Cheers, Rob. Thanks. I have , using Nvidia Experience. So Rob, how is the progress on your SLI "Project". Would it be possible that you put some video with 1 card, and with 2 cards in SLI? just to compare how much stutters we can remove, and if some FPS can be gained? If you already have the video, could you send a link? I am bidding on Ebay for 1 more EVGA GTX 780 SC 6GB (or I could buy 3Gb instead, since P3D doesn' use more the 3GB VRAM).
November 16, 201411 yr I am bidding on Ebay for 1 more EVGA GTX 780 SC 6GB (or I could buy 3Gb instead, since P3D doesn' use more the 3GB VRAM). P3D can use more than 3GB VRAM so not sure who told you otherwise? ... see here: The ball is in nVidia's court for SLI implementation, current nVidia drivers don't do anything for me in terms of time between frames. I'm actually back with the 344.11 drivers as they perform better than the 344.65 ones.
November 17, 201411 yr P3D can use more than 3GB VRAM so not sure who told you otherwise? ... see here: Wow, that's really interesting. If this is true, then i really need another 6 GB card. Thanks for this information !!!
November 19, 201411 yr Hello Rob, any more updates or findings from your side? I have been now testing as well SLI for a couple of days and so far working well with running in with 3 independent monitors, I use one for main view and 2 others for my cockpit. All is done now with NV and AFR2. I will bring findings when more secure of the testings. BR//Luis.
