Building PC....FSX or P3D; Experiences?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I'm building a new PC. It'll contain the i7-4790k oc'd water cooled, 1x EVGA SC GTX 780 3gb, 2x 4gb DDR3 RAM.

I've been using FSX for years now, and have gone through too many PCs to get it running well. My question is, would it be worth it to ditch FSX and make the leap to P3D. With the constant updates, it seems like it would be very cool. I've never used P3D before, and I don't know if I'm subconsciously building a FSX system. The reason I chose this CPU is because it has the best single core usage, and by turning HT off, I'm sure that it'll (FSX) get some good performance.

Haven't been able to find much info on P3D and the 4970k. I'm sure that the GTX will do just fine. I'm also wondering whether to stick with windows 7 or move to windows 8 (64 bit of course). My other half has widows 8 on her laptop, and I can't stand it. But if it is worth the move, i'll look into it.

Thanks for your experiences, tips, tricks!

What is worth for one person isn't worth much for another.

There are some very good P3D youtube videos, I recommend the one called "Froogles thoughts".

Thanks for that, it was pretty helpful. Looks like i'll keep FSX for now since I know how to tweak it & such. I'll wait until more addons are available for P3D before making the switch. It looks very cool though.
