There was quite a lengthy thread on this book and the conclusion (one could draw from the press) that FS2006 was on its way.I would bet that the "programmer for FS2006" is press release or publisher "fluff" vs. evidence the project is well under way. The author cannot state that he works on the FS2006 project as it hasn't been publicly announced. Microsoft is a public company, and having worked for public firms I know that had the author made such an announcement, it would have been the end of the line. But publishing firms love to embellish and draw conclusions based on whatever produces the best soundbyte. I.E.--he's a graphics programmer for MS, so he MUST be working on FS2006, right?There's more definitive proof Microsoft is working on the next sim. They are hiring. But nowhere in their job adverts do they say "FS2006".-John

yeah, ive seen those... i seriously think we will have FS10 this summer. Now ill just sit back and refresh every 20 secs untill i see someone tell me i have no clue what the h*** im talking about. For those that are about to tell me that from what we have now, there is no FS10 because MS has yet to release info on the release, do they ever up untill about 2 months before release? Unless any one has proof that there is no FS10, lets not say that there isnt. I am only judging this on past history. FS9 wasnt released up untill a few months before release. Just the way MS is.. lol.. :-lolWe will have one, wait and see... :):-wave

I don't know how this evolved into discussion of whether there'd be no FS10 at all. There will be, but it won't be this summer, especially after reading the latest Microsoft announcement.When FS2004 was announced, the initial press release came early in 2003, and the sim was released in late summer. To date we've had no press release yet.My guess--just a guess, is that we'll either see a late November release to take advantage of the holiday push, or a release will be early next year. My gut feeling says next year--there's too much new technology coming out and the franchise would be served well by waiting for it. I don't care--FS2004 gives me long hours and weekends of entertainment given the support our community has given it. It's enough to keep me going until whenever FS10 is released.-John

who knows, looking at the record, the new version has always been released a year earlier than the new version. FS2004 released in 03, 02 in 01.. Not shure about 2000 or before those..Lets hope we see it out this summer.. :)

2000 was released in October of 99--I remember it well because my daughter was born at release time and I was looking forward to fatherhood and FS2000 at the same time. The announcement of it's release was something like six months prior. Previous MSFS packages were smaller and I somewhat recall less lead time between initial press release and product release. I do see Microsoft moving away from a "FS200x" mentality and perhaps using a different naming scheme. Sometimes pinning a product to a calendar year can hurt development if you want to exploit the latest and greatest that technology offers. I'd rather see a more flexible release schedule than get a product every other summer that uses last year's technology.

im only 6 years late but congrats on your daughter.I tryed out FS2000 but had problems with it. Was the concorde any good? Always have liked the concorde, just never have flown it...

I did not fly the Concorde that much--I much preferred slower jets and GA aircraft.I had a lot of good luck with FS2000 though--although when FS2002 was released, I was blown away that something better was also smoother and faster. -John

Exactly!I'm still happy with FS9 so I dont really care when.They should make FS even better and release it in 2006.
