August 31, 201411 yr There are lots of nearly indestructible foods out there. I tend to avoid them, when possible, but since so much of what we eat now is laced with God knows what, the only way to really avoid any of it is maybe going vegan, and then the veggies are genetically modified........ August 31, 201411 yr Author There are lots of nearly indestructible foods out there. I tend to avoid them, when possible, but since so much of what we eat now is laced with God knows what, the only way to really avoid any of it is maybe going vegan, and then the veggies are genetically modified........ Its pretty easy to avoid if you stick to the basics and avoid the processed food. Corn, sugar beets, canola, and soy are the only genetically grown crops that I am aware of. August 31, 201411 yr Pilots commonly use "gouges" to remember important things in the cockpit. Here is one to take to the the grocery store: C.R.A.P. = Calorie Rich And Processed Because it's sold in a fancy box or bag, surely doesn't mean that it is healthy, or even edible, for human consumption. If it will make money, they will sell it and it makes no difference what they have to put in it to make it more profitable. This is why we have deaths from heart disease and cancer in America alone, running at the the equivalent of a Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet, crashing every day. Could you imagine what the outrage of that would bring? Yet, because it is happening by diseases brought on by our poor diets supported by huge corporations, like this chemical laced ice cream bar from Walmart that we give to our children, no one bats an eye. August 31, 201411 yr Commercial Member Yeah it's just crazy what kind of unnatural rubbish many people eat every day. Personally I tend to make whatever I eat myself from pure ingredients with as small amount of preservatives and other unnatural chemicals as possible. I'm not a big fan of GM food either, I don't see any need for increased food production just to support our already unsustainable population levels.
August 31, 201411 yr That's one of the reasons Ireland ain't so bad. It's not very hard or expensive to buy a loaf of bread that actually only has the 5 or 6 ingredients needed to make bread, instead of a lost of 50 ingredients that nobody can even pronounce! In saying that, it is quite fascinating to watch that ice cream "melt" Jesse Casserly ✌🏼️ https://www.youtube.com/user/JesseCasserly757 💻 i7-10750H 2.6 GHz / 5.0 GHz, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, RTX 2080 Super Saitek X-56 HOTAS
August 31, 201411 yr Moderator That's one of the reasons I quit eating any "fast food." It may be "fast" but it is most certainly not "food!" Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

August 31, 201411 yr Agree completely that it's best to avoid highly processed food and fast food generally - but in this case, the ingredients that keep the ice cream from melting are completely natural. More here. Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery
