Kernelbase.dll crash NOT! UIautomationcore.dll

Recommended Posts

Can i Start by saying this is NOT a UIautomationcore.dll problem, every forum i have found on this topic, claims

it to be the be all end all crash fixer, whilst it does have some uses, its not the cause of this crash, and i have tried every

fix in relation too it. I have also conducted all the normal fault finding procedures, To which none have availed. FSUIPC

is the latest version, and all addons are up to date. PMDG folders are no longer read only etc. I have scoured forum after

fourum looking for an answer. I have also run SFC /scannow, with no errors found

Okay, after that here are the details. MY PC specs are

Guest JustanotherPilot

I too suffered from this problem that surfaced unexpectedly after I had to reinstall the 737NGX. I tried every posted fix I could find to no avail. The only way I could fix it was a complete uninstall, reg scan, defrag then reinstall of FSX. With all my addon aircraft and scenery it took me a solid week to get back to where I was before the error. This has now caused me to now abandon FSX gradually  and phase in Prepar3D V2.3 It means losing my PMDG products, but I can live with that for the sake of a more stable Flightsim platform.

Can i Start by saying this is NOT a UIautomationcore.dll problem, every forum i have found on this topic, claims

it to be the be all end all crash fixer, whilst it does have some uses, its not the cause of this crash, and i have tried every

fix in relation too it.

I totally agree!!! However, you should remove the uiautomationcore.dll from your main fsx folder as it has been known to cause crashes in Windows 8.1. We have several reports that individuals who had Windows 8 removed the uiautomationcore.dll from their main fsx folder and their crashes stopped. You can simply move it to a temporary folder if you wish or delete it. Perhaps the cause was a wrong version but, in an y case, it caused the crashes.

Driver170 (Vernon) is correct as updating or reinstalling display drivers has fixed this problem for some but it could be another bad driver too. This information can be found in the AVSIM CTD Guide located to the right of this forum under Hot Spots. I also recommend you download a freeware program like Driver Scanner or Driver Genius and run it. It will scan your system for outdated hardware and chipset drivers. If it finds any, it will give you the opportunity to register the product for a license and it will download and install the outdated drivers for you. However, if you are knowledgeable of Google or Bing, you can simply search for the bad drivers, download, and install them yourself. I have a fairly new Haswell computer system and my driver scanner programs found over 66 drivers that needed to be updated. Updating these drivers can fix outdated USB ports which cause many crashes.

Hope this helps.

Wow, never knew that, so where, if at all should i put the uiautomationcore.dll file for use in fsx?

Ill check for outdated drrivers tonight and get back.

for driver, my M.B has decided on the O.C not me, and it is done so dynamically as needed. up to 4.3 GHz

I only had two outdated drivers, one being a USB controler and the other my joystick. Could be the problem. Updating now

It's not needed in the main FSX folder in order for FSX to operate. I do not have it in my FSX folder and many individuals do not use it. The uiautomationcore.dll is part of the Microsoft.net Framework package and used by Windows so you have this module located in your system folders.

Using an automatic overclock completed by your MB is the best way if that works. It's the way I have overclocked my system but my ASUS board will crash if I overclock above 4.2GHz. I tried 4.3GHz several times and occasionally saw a crash. Just remember that CPU voltages must not be too high or too low. Usually, when this happens you will get a BSOD and not a FSX crash though. You can easily determine if the OC is causing any problems by changing the BIOS settings to Optimal Defaults and see if your issues go away. If so, lower your OC to 4.2GHz or until your system is stable.

Dicovery/lightbulb moment today. I tried running FSX in a different user account. To see if that would fix the kernelbase.dll error. IT DID! so, as i moved my user profile from my old PC to this one, something has gone wrong in the process, i am thinking, i dont know how, as FSX was a fresh install. Perhaps in some hidden dark appdata folder, I have noticed that if i delete the Fsx.cfg folder completely on my user profile app data profile, it makes no difference, yet using a different profile does.

Any ideas for a fix, without creating a brand new profile and migrating to that?

Thanks heaps, and i hope that this info might help somone else in the future

Another thing i noticed, When i launch FSX in my current (Corrupted acct) when FSX is closing it creates another FSX.cfg (Text file) for some god unknown reason

and granted rewards, This did not happen in the new account, Still investigating

Could be a permissions problem. The fact that it runs fine as another user seems to support this. Are you sure you are running FSX  (and all your other addons) as administrator? Also try turning off the UAC (User Access Control) I always do this when running FSX, and never had a CTD since, except for an occasional OOM while running the PMDG T7, if my settings are too high!

Thanks

seems as if it was, the permissions were still set from the OLD PC that i migrated from, this wasnt the first windows based problem i have had, so i just moved my files to the new profield (Which was easy considering they were on another HDD, and started from scratched, ill spend days going mad just to find one damn profile or file thats wrong, so it was just easiest to migrate, Im going to make a youtube video for anyone else that may be experiencing the problem, as the problem is not well documented anywhere that had a solution

BINGO! Found the issue full stop, gear up.

Ok, this is for ATI Users only,

Turns out its not a user profile problem, but it is a ATI Gaming Evolved problem.

I have uploaded a video to youtube here,

(Its my first one, so be leanient)

All it comes down to, is when your playing FSX, you need to kill off AMD gaming evolved. CLOSE IT ONLY Disabling the game overlay will not work.

Ill be contacting ATI, too see if they can release an update, but i dont know how much luck ill get

There have been a few others who have reported the kernelbase.dll error was fixed by reinstalling their video card drivers and why we put it as the probable solutions in the AVSIM CTD Guide. Thanks for posting your fix. I'm sure it will help others.
