The article says that only the approach procedures are to be deactivated - not the NDB facilities themselves. No change necessary in FS. Also that will probably not mean the instant deactivation of 500 procedures. In most cases each one has to go through a review process before deactivation. The result will most likely be a slow phase out.

Probably get all converted to GPS approaches over time, if they aren't already in place already. Some Northern Manitoba / NW Ontario airports I fly into have both the RNAV and NDB approaches available. The RNAV appraoches take you down a little lower on minimums up here as well. Not all ACC are approved IFR GPS equipped though so the beacon has to stay!!

Not to mention that by the time they get discontinued the navdatabase for FS2006 (let's call it that for wont of the real title) will likely be closed for changes.

Considering the FS2004 database is from late 2002, the FS2002 database is from mid 2000, you can see that there's 1-1.5 years before release date to be taken as the closing date for changes.Given an expected release sometime next year, that would be about now.

They cost more than some of the planes I've flown are worth.Dan
