On this repaint you can see that there's a layer that kindda looks like highlighting effect, or should I call it a gloss effect? And I wonder how this is possible.

As far as I know, alpha channel controls the general reflectivity of the texture, but in this case, it looks like something is added on the top of the painting.

I can see that this is a sensitive topic to discuss about because this work is done by a long time progress, but it would be more than greatful if anyone could give me some information.

It doesn't have to be perfect, I just need some slight tips or the general idea of it.

What you are looking at is nothing more than   " painted gloss ".
Simply said a layer having white stripes with a low opacity over a dark blue fuselage gives the impression of gloss.
This gloss however is "static" and will always be visible on the aircraft , no matter the fime of the day ,the movements , nor the direction of the sunlight..

In my opinion a bad way to make things realistic.
The gloss off the model, the alpha-channel and the speculars should do the trick.

well, that helps me a lot and I figured it out. Many thanks.

The thing about alpha channel and specular maps is that FS2004 wouldn't work with spec maps as far as I know. I'll have to try playing with it when I move on to FSX.
