FSX Starts Throwing Cookies

Recommended Posts

Funny title for a topic - NOT!  Thing is that at some point you will save a corrupt flight file and you will be doomed for life.  Every time you reload FSX you will load the corrupted start-up configuration with the resultant crash.

At SkyPilot we have found that the cause of this 'Bad Data' was usually WX data but could be caused by any out-of-range data.

We have also found ways to recover from these data glitches by 1) setting in flight Wx to the 'Fair Weather' default Wx scheme or 2) by moving out of the area causing the FSX Crash or 3), we disable UT2 Traffic to gain back needed FPS.  Note that these are just adaptive measures to get to the next stage of our flight.

In summary, FSX will glitch when it hits some data it cannot handle or deal with efficiently which causes the FSX engine to get bogged down.  Think of it as a DNS (Denial Of Service) WebSite attack.

Anyway - we eventually recovered and re-added ASN in FSXAssist and we were back to normal over Lake Tahoe on our way to KSUN - Sun Valley with an FPS of 133!  Very nice.
