Tileproxy R

Recommended Posts

Congratulations on the release of TileProxy_R086.  This is the first update to TileProxy since Christian Buchner's Nov. 16, 2008 release.  I have installed it and it runs great.  A few questions and suggestions as follows:
1. Does this release make TileProxy_R086 a full 64-bit application?  Was the original open source VC++ code re-compiled and tested with a 64-bit compiler? or how did you do it?

2. Can there be a way to eliminate unsigned driver problem with tileproxy.sys driver?  Will it run on Windows 8?

3. I recommend this release be placed in the AVSIM Library and the Simviation Library for greater availability/use.

4. The Readme.txt file seems to be corrupted in the Tileproxy_R086.zip file.  I find a file named "èTùvüEɦÆFòvû@.txt" when I unzip it??  I cut-and-pasted a sample Readme.txt file as a draft for your release package.  Most of the text was copied from your blog link above.

5. I don't believe Google Earth service is an option with TileProxy - at least I have not tried it.  Christian Buchner stated (in his Beta8 release User Manual) the following:

"Blocked compatibility/interoperability with Google Inc.'s map servers. This change was made
after an explicit request of Mike Hearn who works at Google's Earth/Maps engineering department."

 Is this statement not true??  Please see Christians comments on the subject of Google from some time ago:

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/234680-thanks-for-32000-downloads-beta-8-available-now/page-2#entry1495677

6. The multi threads seem to work well.  See TileProxy DOS window example using TileProxy_R (note the three  <0> - Done!  lines)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/70080922/TileProxy_R_processing_3_threads.jpg

7. Have you had any contact with Christian Buchner?  He is no longer an active member of AVSIM.  Here is a 2007 YouTube video from Christian showing another interesting FSX development of his:

Long time fan of Tileproxy. I have no idea about programming or how it works. I just follow the original directions. But for some reason it no longer reads the tiles correctly. I get a mixed-up array of all kinds of tiles in total randomness. IF anyone knows what is going on please let me know.

Now regarding the new version. I downloaded it but there are no installation instructions. Or are these files just ones to replace ones I already have? As you can already see, I have no idea at what I am doing. But if someone could tell me, in plain English what to do do update with these files, I would sure appreciate it. I live in the U.S. I assume the new version works here in the states?

I try to download, but the link is not working.
Is there a reason?

If someone can send me the file directly or give me another link i will be happy.

Sgilmore, replace all the files , but first save your proxyuser.ini. The new proxyuser.ini has more lines. Use yours to complete the new one.

Do not forget to read those lines , so you will know wich lines to choose:

2 cores
core_mask = # FFFFFFFF
request_count = 2

4 cores
core_mask = # FFFFFFFE
request_count = 4

6 cores
core_mask = # FFFFFFFC
request_count = 6

8 cores
core_mask = # FFFFFFF8
request_count =8

This patched Tileproxy is really faster than the original one. I waited for it sooooo long !

Foly-vi

Thanks for your help but I do not understand your directions. What do you mean to use my proxy.ini to complete the new one?

And I have now idea what you are talking about here:

Foly-vi,

Never mind with the last post. I figured it out. But when I run tileproxy, I still get a random display of tiles. It does not look like the simulator is reading the tiles. Any ideas?

How fast is it compared to the "default" TP ?

I have 3 screens and never was able to fly faster than 80 knots before getting blurries ( loading not fast enough )

Recently upgraded to 5820k ( 6 cores , so 2 more for terrain loading ).

Curious about your experinces ....

Easily 2X faster.

I do not fly with FSX. Only P3D. Original Tileproxy runs much faster with P3D (I could easily fly at 150 knots with 1m/pixel resolution). But now, with the patched Tileproxy , 300 knots is not a problem.

(On another forum , I explained how to use Tileproxy with P3D.)

It is also now possible to fly using Google maps datas.

When it comes to flying Google Maps, does it need any special code in the proxyuser.ini?

Or to leave the usual lines.
