Traffic kills so much FPS

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

My Prepar3D works well about 20 25 fps which is enough for me. But when I open all the traffic sliders my frames drops to about 12 fps.

Is there any solution of this problem?

Thanks

Turn off/limit traffic, use different AI models, lower other settings or upgrade your system are your only options. Keep in mind, everything you add to the sim affects performance.

Which AI you prefer for me? Is there a FPS friendlier AI model?

AI traffic is hard on frames and should be further optimized in the core engine; I don't think there has been much development on this module since FS9.

This said, you can try to optimize traffic using the Traffic Optimizer

The basic idea is to limit the bubble in which AI traffic is generated and displayed

Kind regards, Michael

The big issue is P3D is calling all of the default aircraft as AI traffic, including the more demanding models like the Carenados and Alabeos. When you're the only one flying it's no big deal (as in FSX) but when you have 10 or 15 (or more) of these high detail models at an airport it really crushes framerates.

Why would you ever use a Carenado or Alabeo aircraft as an AI one, they are way to detailed for that.
